- 2021-02-01Is cleaning baby’s tongue necessary?
- 2021-02-01It started at her back, we went to see Dr but Dr say just bathe n apply lotion and didnt give any medicated cream.
But now it spreads to head and forehead and face. We now put her in aircon most of time to cool down, hope it helps.
Any super mom has experience in treating this? TIA.

- 2021-02-01hi mummies! i’m almost 23 weeks and i’ve been having pelvic pain and pressure for almost 3 days constantly. it happens when i stand up from sitting/lying down and it’s almost like a sharp pain at the groin/pelvic area. kinda feels like a pressure pull also. is this normal? i don’t have any bleeding or discharge but it’s been quite painful! any tips to prevent or soothe this?
- 2021-02-01Should you tell your children how much you earn?
- 2021-02-01How can a husband help around in the house?
Husband working schedule is irregular. Sometimes works day, sometimes night and sometimes both day and night in a day. I'm juggling to take care of 2 children, one 2 years old the other 6 months. I do the housework and taking care of the children. Recently, it's taking a toll on me and want to have my husband to help out but I don't know where he can start with.
- 2021-02-01Hi mummies, which brand for eczema shower gel for bb?
- 2021-02-01Hi mummies. My LO will be 13 month nxt week.
Today i spot soap in LO's water bottle.
I found it weird. Taste it but its okay then when i opened the bottle i saw a small pc of vegetable. My guess is maid didn't wash properly. I have always been very particular when it comes to my LO. there were many time when there are hygiene lapse. If u were me, will u make a police report? Just in case if one day i really scold her and she make a false report against me.
- 2021-02-01My baby is 5+months now. She started rejecting milk/bottle since last 3 weeks. Whenever we tried to feed her milk she will fuss or cry. Or keep biting the milk bottle teat and not sucking it and fall asleep after that. Need to take very long to finish 120ml per feed. Sometimes she only drink less than 100ml. Tried dragging longer hours (4hours) before feeding but she seems to be not interested also. She can wait up till 6hours or more. She’s only drink 500+-600+ml a day. Checked with PD on her last check up why she’s acting this way but they did not give much response only say sometimes is like this. And her weight is only on the 25 percentile I’m afraid she’s not getting enough nutrients. Tried changing the teat and milk bottle brand but still the same. Not sure if it’s just a process. Anyone experience it before when baby is at this stage? Any idea what to do?
- 2021-02-01Im 17 weeks now. When will i feel my baby move? I had two miscarriages before first one at 3 months and the second one at 4 months. Is it possible for me to feel it now and what does it feel like?

- 2021-02-02I went to doc today for the scan today at week 7 day 3. The baby stopped growing at week 6(previously saw a heartbeat) . Doc said it was a silent miscarriage, meaning I have no symptoms. Currently on medication to induce bleeding . I just wanted to share my story for all the strong mums that grieve in silence /alone when they experience loss of their little bean. Let’s stay strong and press on.
- 2021-02-02Whats the best baby carrier for plus size parents? My husband is wearing 4xl and I'm xl. I need to get something that my husband can fit 😅😅
- 2021-02-02My baby is angry all the time. At 6 month old, he shouts if he couldnt reach things, or when he is frustrated sitting alone over a period of time. Isit normal for baby at 6months to show this kind of behaviour? It worries me.
- 2021-02-02I was refer to that clinic for my next visit. What will be expected and what are the fees.
- 2021-02-02My parents wants to take care of my first child forever and asked me to focus on my second child.
I got pregnant with my first child when I was 20, I got married to the father after she turns 6 months old and I conceived another child within 3 months after marriage.
My parents told me that I should focus on the "legally married" child and they want to take the full custody of my first child because they do not have a child together (My mom remarried, no child after more than 10 years)
My mom really love my first child, I can really see that. She once told me that my first child reminds her of me when I was little.
I am moving out in a few days, taking our house keys in 2 days time.
They told me that I should leave my first child to them and bring my second child instead but my best friend told me not to because when the child grew up, she will be thinking that I didn't care about her or that I didn't want her.
How? I love my children equally but I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling. Right now it's either they will be hurt if I declined the offer or I will end up getting hurt not to be able to have the bonding between a mother and daughter forever?

- 2021-02-02Any good baby formula brand for 5m+ baby. Tried Nan Optipro when she’s new born, she hates it then change to Bellamys Organic she accept the taste but her tongue have black stain after consuming it so then changed to Enfamil Gentlease she can accept it also and have drink quite a few tins already, but recently she’s rejecting it not sure if she’s bored of the formula taste or other reason, so I’m thinking to try other brand since she’s turning 6month soon. - 2021-02-02Hello everyone. I have a question. My wife is a few weeks pregnant, first trimester. So, being the caring and loveable husband.. I cared for my wife's needs. But I realized, even the smallest things.. she asked me to do it. I don't mind helping her and taking care of her but is she taking advantage of me just because she's on her first trimester? Please help me understand, is this normal for the wife's during first trimester? #firstbaby #advicepls

- 2021-02-02Any recommendation for good value toddlers’ clothing/shoe brand (~ 2 years of age) since they outgrow super fast?
- 2021-02-02Hi mummies my newborn is not sleeping well, like she will wake up one hour after her feed. Then start crying and crying. After changing her pampers and some fresh clothes still the same. Could it be because of the temperature in the room? Or isit because she has confusion between day and night? What do u do when your newborn is awake at night?
- 2021-02-02My mil has been helping to take care of my baby since she was born due to i had c sect for delivery. She worried that i am tired and wants me to rest more which I am very grateful. Right now after my confinement i am feeling much better, able to take more responsibility for my baby. But lately i had this feeling that baby is taken away from me.
I was half way through the feeding for my baby she ask me to stop and she will carry on from there and when i was cleaning up my baby she will supervise me. Say this wrong and that wrong. But I always joke with her if i ever did anything wrong as i did not want to spoilt the rls with her but inside me i wasnt very happy for being judge. My mil always ask me not to carry my baby so long so as not to spoilt her but she herself also carry her very long. Also i insist no walker for my baby as i read there is quite alot of disadvantages but my mil hear from someone else mention that if baby dont use walker, her leg got no strength and my mil insist of using it at her house even if i say no.
And in 2 months time i will be back to work. I brought up the discussion that i still wish baby to be home with me if i wfh. But she insist of bringing my baby back to her house so that not to disturb me. Told me to visit my baby at her house. We stay 2 block away from each other btw (FYI MY FIL IS A HEAVY SMOKER AND DOESNT BOTHER IF THERE IS A BABY NEARBY, I WAS WORRIED MY BABY TAKES IN 2ND HAND SMOKE FROM HIM). Thats also the reason i do not want my mil to bring my baby back to her place.
The past few days i feel that i am not my baby's mom. i feel like i cant make decision for my baby. I do not wish to spoilt the rls with my mil but at the same time i dont like the feeling that baby is taken away from me. I did had a talk with my hubby but it has not being brought up to her..he wants me to chill and not overthink first.
Am i the only one that overthinks or too sensitive?

- 2021-02-02I am 24 this year and I don't know what to do. I have yet to tell my family about this - and I am sure they will be disappointed.
I left my home and have been staying with my aunt who loved me a lot since I was a kid and it hurts me to know that she will feel like she is a failure and I have disappointed her big time.
I was actually told to abort or give birth and my boyfriend will leave me.
He told me marrying me and having the child is a no choice for him. Because of the instability of our relationship and not being sure of our finances.
Due to me not being able to take leaves just for abortion (and also me not wanting to). I have told him to leave (because he wanted to either way if I decided to keep it) and he just did it without looking back.
Not to mention he talked to multiple adults with family/is married, they gave him the idea and supported the idea of leaving me should I want to keep the baby.
I have been so depressed, I don't know what to do and I am worried about my unborn child. I am afraid after I give birth, I wouldn't be able to love him/her.
This is my first pregnancy.
Please advice..

He is currently fully breastfeeding, direct latch 6 to 8 times per day, 2 times bottling ebm 90mls each feed.
Diaper 5 to 6 wet pee diapers, usually 3 poo diapers (soft yellowish stools). But none of soft stools since Mon.
My elder daughter is still drinking ebm 2 times a day (250mls each feed), had 1 episode of watery stool in childcare yesterday, Tues. Today she havent poo.
Both dont have other symptoms of stomach flu.
So do i need to bring my baby to consult PD?
Or i need to change to non spicy food diet? As after 1 month confinement, i started to take very mild chilli. Or any other dietary change?
Tqvm mummies for ur help in advance.

I mix breast milk with formula as I have very Low supply. She will fall asleep for awhile and wakes up crying and then we will have to make her sleep again and this takes us up to 1-2 hrs because she just won’t sleep soundly and then she is hungry and cries for milk again and the whole process repeats through the night. I am so stressed. Is there something wrong with her ? #advicepls #1stimemom #firstbaby #pleasehelp

- 2021-02-04Hello!
As I am going through this pregnancy alone, I would like to be able to save as much as I can, visit as little as possible, and only visit for those important weeks needed because I am a single mother.
This is my first pregnancy and I would like to know when is the weeks I need to take note to go visit the gynae.
I visited when I was 7 weeks pregnant.
I am currently 11 weeks nearly 12 weeks.
Please advice and tell me the important weeks I should visit the gynae.
Thank you!

- 2021-02-04I’ve been crying almost every week ever since the arrival of my baby because I feel my hubby is not understanding. He kept saying (once a week at least) that I do nothing whole day other than feeding the baby while he has to do all the household chores and he is tired. I felt so hurt when he made that kind of comment. He is now wfh while I’m on my maternity leave. I took care of the feeding (breastfeeding) and coaxing my baby (hard to put her to sleep/nap) as well as night duty and my hubby will do household chores (laundry and vacuum floor) and carry baby when I need to bath. I asked him to help bathe baby but He thinks that I should bathe baby since he is working and I’m on maternity leave. Is it too much to ask hubby to bathe baby since he is already not involved in feeding, diaper change, night duty, coax baby when cry? I feel so helpless now.
- 2021-02-04this is my third pregnancy yet i feel like its my first. im very nervous. i still have not gone to see any doctors yet. what would you parents recommend doing? going to GP for referral or book an appointment with a gynae from a hospital straight? im about almost 8 weeks in.

- 2021-02-04Hi mummies! I lost my dad a couple of months ago and till now, I still find myself grieving over the loss. Sometimes I’m ok, some days are just hard. And then, months after that, I got pregnant. I felt so happy when I found out. I’m almost 13 weeks now and at times, I find myself thinking about my late dad more and then it hits me. Hard. I know my mental health is important to my growing baby’s well-being. I hope there’s someone out there who’s had the same experience as me, and how you actually learn to cope with it. It may just be the pregnancy hormones after all. :)

- 2021-02-05Extracted from http://www.losolivos-obgyn.com/info/ob/ob_book/common_pregnancy_discomforts.pdf
Abdominal cramping - The ligaments that support the growing uterus are stretching. It is common to have cramping as the uterus grows. In the second and third trimester, Braxton-Hicks become more common. Rx: Try a heating pad, rest or Tylenol. Call for severe pain, bleeding or regular contractions.
Allergies - The hormonal changes can increase nasal sensitivity. Rx -Avoid allergens such as mold, dust and pets. Rx – Antihistamines and nasal sprays are effective for allergies. Claritin is OTC and does not cause drowsiness. A humidifier in the bedroom may help.
Backache - The increasing uterus size causes a shift in the center of gravity and posture. Rx – A heating pad, ice or Tylenol may be helpful. Avoid lifting, bending, and high-heeled shoes. Wear a supportive bra. Try stretching, pelvic rocking, or wearing an external abdominal binder. Physical therapy or a massage may also help.
Bleeding gums - The high level of estrogen increases gum sensitivity. Rx - Practice good oral hygiene. Use a soft toothbrush & floss regularly. Try warm saline mouthwashes. Increase Vitamin C.
Braxton-Hicks – Irregular contractions of the uterus in preparation for labor. Rx - Rest on your left side and drink lots of fluid. Keep your bladder empty. Braxton-Hicks do not usually signify labor is going to start. Call if the contractions become regular and intense and you are less than 34 weeks pregnant.
Breast pain - The increased hormone levels cause a thickening of the fat layer & stimulate the developing milk ducts. Rx - Avoid caffeine, and use Vitamin E 800 IU. Wear a supportive bra.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Fluid retention causes compression of the ulnar nerve in the wrist resulting in numbness in the hands. Rx - Wear a wrist splint while sleeping. The numbness usually disappears about 6-8 weeks post-partum. Remove rings from your fingers before they become too swollen.
Chloasma/Linea Nigra Skin Changes - Estrogen & progesterone hormones have melanocyte stimulating effects which cause the dark line on the abdomen and a facial rash. Rx - Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen.
Constipation - Progesterone relaxes the smooth muscle, decreasing peristalsis. Can also be caused by iron supplementation. Rx – Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Eat prunes and a high fiber diet. Increase your exercise. Use a stool softener such as Colace or Metamucil.
Diarrhea - Caused by hormonal changes affecting peristalsis. Frequently occurs during early labor. Rx Drink liquids to avoid dehydration. Eat rice, bananas and toast. Avoid dairy.
Difficulty breathing - The enlarging uterus presses up against your diaphragm. Rx - Avoid restrictive clothing. Use pillows to elevate your back while sleeping.
Dizziness - The enlarged uterus compresses the vena cava. Also caused by nausea, vomiting and blood sugar fluctuations. May be caused by standing or sitting in the same position for a long period of time. Rx –Lay on your left side while sleeping. Eat frequent, small meals. Do not get up from sitting too quickly or take very hot showers. Move your legs while standing in place to increase blood circulation. Try slower breathing.
Fatigue - Caused by a fall in the metabolic rate, hormone level changes and sleep disturbances. Rx - Take frequent rest periods. Avoid caffeine and exercising before bed. Drink warm milk.
Flatulence - occurs from decreased gastric movement and intestinal pressure. Rx - Avoid gas-forming foods, drinking through a straw, chewing gum or drinking carbonated beverages. Try Mylicon.
Headaches - Caused by stress, increased blood volume, low blood sugar, or hormone level changes. Rx - Rest, drink fluids, try relaxation techniques or massage. Use Tylenol.
Heartburn - Hormonal influence relaxes the cardiac sphincter and decreases gastric motility. Rx - Eat small, frequent meals. Avoid spicy foods. Do not lie down after eating. Try Maalox or MOM. Elevate the head of the bed when sleeping.
Hemorrhoids - Straining during bowel movements causes veins in rectum to become inflamed & swollen. Rx - Eat a high fiber diet, bran, whole grains & fruit. Try frequent sitz baths, sitting on a rubber ring, Preparation H, Tucks, or Anusol HC.
Hip pain – Commonly caused by ligaments becoming “looser” due to hormonal changes.
Insomnia - Caused by anxiety &/or being uncomfortable. Rx - Try a warm bath, relaxation techniques, & a body pillow. Avoid caffeine. Benadryl causes fatigue and is commonly used to help with insomnia.
Itching - Caused by changes in the hormone levels. Rx - Try an Aveeno bath, moisturizing lotion and drink fluids. Use benadryl cream, calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream. Notify your physician if a severe rash develops.
Leg cramps - The uterus puts pressure on pelvic blood vessels causing decreased circulation to the lower extremity muscles. Rx - Straighten the affected leg & point heel. Try leg elevation several times daily, stretching and a diet high in calcium & magnesium. Try using a heating pad, hot water bottle or a warm bath. Sometimes, deep breathing will help.
Mood swings - Occur from constant fluctuation of hormone levels, fatigue and stress. Rx - Make time for yourself, rest, and exercise. Consider yoga.
Nasal congestion - The hormone changes increase nasal mucosa sensitivity. Rapid breathing increases the dryness in the nasal passages. Rx - Use a humidifier, drink fluids, and try saline nasal sprays.
Nausea/Vomiting - Occurs from changing hormone levels, slowed peristalsis, stretching of the internal organs and the enlarging uterus putting pressure on the stomach. Rx - Avoid spicy, greasy foods. Eat small, frequent meals. Drink tea and liquids between meals. Keep crackers, popcorn, or toast at bedside. Try lemon juice or drops, Vitamin B6 50-100mg with 1⁄2 a Unisom tablet. May use OTC acupressure wrist bands.
Nose bleeds - Caused by high estrogen levels which increase nasal sensitivity. Rx - Sit with head tilted forward & pinch your nostrils for 10 - 15 minutes. Avoid overheated, dry air and excessive exertion. Blow your nose gently. Use a humidifier while sleeping. Use Vaseline on the nasal passages or saline nasal spray to keep the nostrils moist. Try a nasal decongestant to shrink the swollen vessels.
Numb spot on the abdomen - Caused by the baby pushing on nerves to the abdomen. It’s normal and no treatment is necessary.
Pain with intercourse - Occurs from pelvic & vaginal congestion, uterus enlargement or anxiety. Rx - Try changing positions, adding lubrication, increased foreplay, and more communication.
Pain or numb areas on the upper abdomen – Common in the third trimester. Usually due to baby sitting on nerves.
Round ligament pain - The ligaments that support the enlarging uterus are stretching. Rx - Flex your knees to your abdomen. Try warm baths, a heating pad, exercise, or sleeping with a body pillow.
Stretch marks - The skin stretches to accommodate the enlarging uterus. Rx - Apply lotion with Vitamin E & aloe vera daily. The marks usually fade after delivery.
Swollen hands/feet - The water retention impairs the circulation and increases pressure in the extremities while standing. Rx - Avoid restrictive clothes, long periods of standing, excessive sugar, carbohydrate and fat intake. Elevate legs throughout the day. Wear support hose. Increase your exercise and water intake.
Tender breasts - Wear a support bra. Use Tylenol for discomfort.
Urinary frequency - The heavy weight of the uterus puts pressure on the bladder. Rx - Drink fewer fluids before bed. Wear easily removable clothing.
Urinary tract infection - Due to relaxation of the sphincters in the perineum and slower peristalsis in the urinary system. Rx - Drink more fluids and consider cranberry juice or cranberry tablets. Use Vitamin C tablets. After urination, wipe from front to back. Urinate after intercourse. Call our office if you suspect an infection.
Vaginal discharge - Estrogen causes increased cervical mucous formation. Rx - Wear cotton underwear and pantiliners. Call if odor, persistent itch, changes in color or consistency. Avoid pantyhose, girdles, and tight pants. Try an OTC yeast medication if symptomatic of yeast.
Varicosities - May be hereditary. Caused by impaired circulation, pressure of the uterus on the circulatory system, and hormonal effects on veins. Rx - Avoid restrictive clothing, long periods of standing, and crossing legs at the knees. Elevate legs and wear support hose. Take rest periods and walk more.
Yeast infection - Caused by a change in vaginal flora because of hormone fluctuations. Rx -
Use good hygiene. Wear cotton underwear. Use a hairdryer vaginally after showering. Try an OTC yeast medication.

- 2021-02-05Im sorry I let out in this forum. I have mom guilt almost everyday cause lose my temper on my 3 month plus corrected age daughter. Before she enter infant care, her bottle feeding with formula has no issue. Every 3 hrs she surely drank 90ml at least. If not 120ml the max. This month she enter infant care as I need to go back to work to help my husband in family finance.
Its been 2 weeks she has bottle feeding issue. She doesn't want to drink milk every 3 hrs. Some times 5 hrs after last fed or 8 hrs last fed then she drink. When I try to feed every 3hrs, she sucking but the milk in bottle never decrease. Few times suck then she screaming like in pain. So when to visit he PD. He do checks on her. She has no nose block, flu, cough, sore throat, teething, ulcer, thrush, fever, lung infection. He couldn't detect what wrong. Only he told me she could have no appetite due to mild viruses she gotten from infant care. Try not to force her to drink and wait for her cue if she want to drink. Afraid she will hate milk or bottle fed in future.
I don't know whats wrong with her. She seems want to drink, but the milk never decrease. Few sucking, cry like in pain. Thought the teats, but PD say no need to change. My heart breaks to see her being like this. I rather she drink more milk then never. I dont know what to do mummies. Only GOD knows how I feel right now.

- 2021-02-06Anyone knows what’s the visiting rules in the different SG hospitals maternity wards?
Currently, I am pregnant with my second baby and all I’m worried for is how long does my firstborn have to be away from me. The antenatal and delivery plan was to go through private route with NUH like what I did for my first. But.. NUH does not allow children below 12 to visit with the current covid situation. This means that my firstborn might not be able to see me for days. She has never gone to sleep at night without me and she still does direct latched breastfeeding. Therefore, although this may sound silly, I’m really considering changing hospital if there is any other hospital which would allow her to be brought in to the maternity ward for visit. #Separation_Anxiety
