- 2022-02-14Hi guys, im currently only a subsidies patient at NUH. However, back on 8th feb 2022, i went for my anomaly scan (detail scan) over at Fetal care centre. I eventually requested for my babies's gender scan. But was told by the sonographer that i am unable to get it as the scan are only going to be kept for medical records. Therefore, i went home without any ultrasound picture. Anyone managed to get a picture of the scan? or faces the same issue as me? and am i able to request for it on my next appointment? #pleasehelp #firstbaby

- 2022-02-14Hi mummies, I have some questions if the community can share your experiences and advices pls!
My bb is currently 5weeks old
1)How do I gauge the amount of milk I should feed him? Accord to research he Shld be taking 100-120ml. But he kept spitting out milk and having difficulty to burp though we tried many methods of burping/ helping him to release gas e.g. bicycle stretches
2) it seems like my bb has alot of gas, not sure why. Any better methods of releasing gas?
We tried applying Ru Yi oil, added Riwind Med into his milk ..
3) he seems to sleep very well during day time but not so wee hours onwards. Anyone experienced this too? Can share advices pls?
Thank you all in advance!

- 2022-02-14Hi, anyone knows if I am able to take pre vitamins together with pregnant mum’s milk formulae within the same day? I would prefer to give my baby more nutrients but I googled & it says if overdose of certain vitamins/folic acid will bring harm to the foetus instead which scares me. I am still in my first trimester & my first gynae appointment would only be when I am near 10weeks.So I have to buy folic acid and supplements myself before heading any advise from the gynae. Mummies, any one?

- 2022-02-15Hi, I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I found out that I'm pregnant at 4 weeks due to feeling nauseated, frequent peeing and feeling super fatigue. I've already went to the gynae when I was 6 weeks. But recently I've been vomiting everything I eat and drink! Isit normal? Is anyone else going through the same thing?? This is my 4th pregnancy but I feel like it's my 1st because all the symptoms are more severe than the last. Anyone have any tips to stop the nausea and vomiting other than medications?
- 2022-02-15Hi Mummies,
I’m a FTM currently at 27 weeks + and looking for suggestions on when do you start to prepare for baby’s arrival? Such as washing of baby’s clothes, prepping baby cot, sorting out clothes (e.g 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 months etc) so that it is easier to take out when baby outgrow the clothes and move on to the next size. Other than that, when is it an ideal time to buy and standby a pack of NB diapers coz i read that baby may outgrew the NB size in no time depending on baby’s weight.
At which week do you start to pack your hospital bag? & what do you pack for yourself and baby? Do i need to bring my breast pump during delivery? Will the nurse/LC able to guide me on the usage of breast pump at the ward? If it may help, I’ll be delivering at KKH.
- 2022-02-15Currently pregnant and not comfortable taking the booster just yet. - 2022-02-15My LO will be starting preschool PG in 2 days time.
But was informed by the school that there are several confirmed cases in school from N1, K1 and K2 classes. School is air-conditioned.
It will be LO's first time attending, should I wait and monitor a few more days to observe/wait for the current spike to come down (just started last week for all the cases), or just proceed since it is inevitable sooner or later need to expose to it?
My LO doesn't wear a mask too. But teacher will reinforce. #advicepls
- 2022-02-15Hi my LO is turning five months and fully formula fed. Her poo has always been dark green and pasty since birth. Frequency is about once every two days. Recently, it changed to a mustard yellow colour and smells much more stronger. She has been pooping at least twice everyday too which is more than the norm. Texture is slightly watery. Is this diarrhoea? She seems happy and doesn’t seem to be in pain when she is passing motion. Drinking well too. TIA!

- 2022-02-15During my growing up years, I got to know friend C when we were 16 or 17 i think? Friend C has a best friend J. The 3 of us quickly became best of friends. However, gradually C and J fell out with each other and J was very close to me. Eventually C and me also fell out with each other and I remember her cursing my 18th birthday to be my death day. I am 35 this year. Frankly looking back I also forgot what caused us to unfriend each other. Oh yes C has a bf back then and her bf keep want to sian me however I kept my distance away from him. I guessed this guy kept poisoning C about me. I am one that cannot stand unfairness and stand being maligned. C angrily said I wore her old shoes etc. when I did nothing and felt she is childish. I rememebered back then on my 18th birthday I was on the way to pub and celebrate with J and another best friend A, C called me says she got a cake for me and I think she asked me to choose to celebrate with her or J and friends. In the end I gave C up as at that point i feel she is childish and also maglined me with her bf..my other friends actually feel C is childish and told me to ignore her too. After the saga, me and J(C's ex best friend) have been contacting each other till today and the other friends. J is also my best friend. However sometimes I feel she has a wall and doesn't really share her deep inner thoughts with me. We quarrelled when we went overseas trip 2 times. When C was my best friend back then, both of us were really close and happy and shared everything and our inner thoughts. Now I am a mother myself and through fb search I saw C also just became a mother. The husband is also not that ex bf anymore. There are a few times I dreamt of befriending with C again. However in reality I am not confident and pretty sure she will ignore me if I fb msg her. Also if I decided to befriend her again, what will J and other friends think of me? I am thinking of reconnecting back since its been so long and her husband is not the ex bf who discord us and we r both mothers now, common topic. Should I try to msg her in fb? If yes what should I say? Or should I not contact her anymore? Also wondering if she is still thinking that I steal her bf then as I did not! #pleasehelp #advicepls
- 2022-02-16I'm about 9 weeks today. Going for my first check up. What should I expect aside from the scan?
- 2022-02-16Hi.. not sure if i am overeacting or what but i feel so offended when my MIL wants my babyboy to call my SIL "mummy." Just bc her other grandchildren call her daughter by mummy. But my husband and my BIL are all called as Pak Busu (means youngest uncle) & Pak Ngah (means middle or 2nd uncle).. their sister is the only girl in their siblings and her children and my BIL children calls her mummy also. Thats why my MIL feels like my baby shld also refer her as that. But im not okay with it.. i dont call my aunties in that manner so i feel a lil bit weirded out.. and i feel like my motherhood is being snacth away.. the most annoying part is that my SIL was the one that asks me (infront of my MIL) what wld my son call her whether it will be Mak Long (means eldest aunty) or Mummy just like the rest are doing.. and i havent even got the chance to answer to ger qn, my MIL just interfere and said "Eh ofc la call u mummy.. why must he call u Mak Long?"
Like hellooooo... then if thats the case can ur other grandchildren call me Mama?? I think she would feel pissed off if i were to do that to her..
It sounds like a small matter to people but i personally feel like this is hurtful to me.. esp when i have to go for emergency c-sect to birth my son and my recovery period is very difficult.. the whole journey is very rough and emotional for me.. thats why i feel offended by my MIL's remarks..
Or issit i am being overeacting or dramatic? 😞

- 2022-02-16Should I continue taking folic acid (5mg) after my first trimester?
Some of my friends continued taking till they gave birth. But gynaecologist say can stop and just take multi vitamins. I told him I will try my best to walk slightly faster. He said, "If you're pregnant you should come out earlier, not make me wait.". Upon reaching, he even stared me down and gave me an attitude. - 2022-02-16Hi mummies! Have just recovered from covid and would like to share my covid positive story here as i reslized the cases are getting more & there’s not much details on covid in pregnant woman.
On 3 Feb 2022 night, i suddenly had the feverish feel + cough. my temperature was 37.6 but i didn’t dare to take any medicine as I know pregnant woman cannot anyhow take medications.
So i just do my things and rest as per usual.
On 4 Feb 2022 morning, i felt even more sick! my temperature was 38.2 and i’m still coughing (dry cough). self test ART but it was negative. i called my gynae to inform that i’m having a fever + cough but covid negative, and he just ask me to eat NORMAL panadol. I mentioned that baby’s movement got slightly lesser too, he asked me to drink warm water and see if baby got move, if got move means ok la don’t need to worry. I ate normal panadol and rested, temperature kept increase decrease increase decrease but still within the fever range which is above 37.6 degrees.
On 4 Feb 2022 night, my husband started to feel feverish and he have dry cough too! his temperature was even higher than me, straight shoot up to 38.7 degrees. We just ate panadol and rest.
I recovered from my fever on 5 Feb 2022 morning but i’m still having cough.
From 5 Feb 2022 to 8 Feb 2022, my cough is still there and my husband still got fever & cough. we decided to self test ART and we are both POSITIVE! which means i was negative when i’m sick but positive when i’m recovered. So these are the steps we made on 8 Feb 2022 noon after we self tested positive:
Step 1: visited this link https://flu.gowhere.gov.sg and find out the nearest Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs) clinic.
Step 2: Called the clinic to confirm if they are able to do swab test on the spot and went down.
Step 3: Doctor performed ART & PCR swab on me while he only performed ART on my huaband. (maybe because i’m pregnant la so he perform both swab for me. )
Step 4: Doctor gave me cough syrup (pink colour) & cough medicine. both is safe for pregnant woman.
Step 5: Both of us paid $10 each for the whole thing and proceeded home to wait for our result. (ART within 2 hours & PCR within 24 hours. )
On 9 Feb 2022, we both received SMS from MOH and our result is positive. We submitted a acknowledgement form via the SMS link and in the link I ticked that i’m pregnant. We are being placed under Home Recovery Programme, so we self isolated at home. I read online and found out that MOH will refer pregnant woman that are 26 weeks and above to either SGH, KKH or NUH for further check up so I contacted MOH on the day itself and asked if i will be referred to gov hospital but they said no as they have recently changed the rule to 35 weeks pregnant and above then will be referred to hospital. Even though i’m very worried for my baby but somehow i had no choice also la because they don’t encourage us to go to the hospital directly so i just eat my medication and rest and ensure that baby got at least move a bit throughout the day.
On 10 Feb 2022 morning, I received a call from MOH and the lady otp asked me if my house is suitable for home recovery or I need to be transferred to a covid 19 facility. I mentioned that i’m staying in a 2 room rental flat with my husband, which means we are unable to isolate in different room or avoid close contact with each other but we are both positive. so the lady said it should be fine la, unless one of us negative then that one no choice, have to send the one that kena positive to covid 19 facility.
On 11 Feb 2022 morning, I received a call from iMedic. The lady asked me currently I how many months pregnant, am i feeling ok and asked me what medication was given to me by the GP. In the noon, husband and i went out to the vending machine to collect our free 3 ART test kits.
On 12 Feb 2022 morning, I tested negative already. which means i’m able to leave house and resume my activities as i have isolated for more than 72 hours. so i submitted my result online. However, my husband is still positive till 14 Feb 2022 morning.
We know that for those recovered from covid 19, we have a grace period of 180 days (if i not wrong) for the booster. Which means we can still go to mall and eat out as per usual. i’m still in fully vaccinated status but my husband is not anymore as he was the first few batch that took the first dose of vaccine. However, there’s no way to prove that we have recovered from covid 19 recently and we are in the grace period. So i called MOH and they gave me a link to request for recovery memo that we must show when we enter mall or eat out.
https://form.gov.sg/#!/61f776e01dc4e100122a36c2
Please take note that some clinic will charge for this recovery memo if you request from them, so just fill up the link and MOH will sms you your recovery memo on the same day itself and it’s FREE!
I will be going for my monthly baby check up on 18 Feb 2022, I will update on the status of my baby’s health and what doctor say but I believe kena covid while pregnant won’t affect the baby much i guess but I read some oversea articles mentioning that those got covid while pregnant, will give birth earlier. 🤷🏻♀️
Ok that’s all for now, sorry for any broken english or slangs but I really hope my covid positive story will be able to help you a bit!
Take care and stay safe mummies!
Edit: 18 Feb 2022, doctor said that baby is healthy growing fine & said it’s great that I have gotten covid while pregnant so my body will be immune to covid (because usually kena once won’t get second time already) so high chance i won’t be the one passing covid to my baby when she’s out 😂

- 2022-02-17Hi mummies, I’ll be going to work in April (Baby will be 4 months old by then). She has always been on full BM, my supply is just nice but recently introduced FM so she’s mixed feeding now.
I still wish to feed my baby some BM but problem is there is nowhere for me to pump at work (F&B sector, small shop space and location not near mall so no nursing rooms nearby). I’m required to be in shop from 10am-9pm.
Current pump schedule is every 4 hours, 5x a day plus latching for 1 night feed. Is it possible for me to drop my day pump altogether and only pump/latch after work hours?
Any advise is welcome please. Husband asks me to stop giving BM but I feel sad cos I do have the supply, so I don’t wish to stop 😢
Ps: not possible to create a freezer stash cos of space constraints. #pleasehelp

- 2022-02-17Hi, I'm 31 this year. Doctor spoke to me about down syndrome test today. She mentioned that if we have extra cash, better to do both. But yet I was told by my closed ones that usually do either one. Doctor even suggested to do preeclampsia test, is this even required?
Can't decide which to go for Oscar or nipt.

- 2022-02-17I'm in Week 9 and for around two to three weeks, I've noticed a persistent rash marking stretching just below my lower lips. Also, pimples are breaking out at my chin n not going away for weeks.
Is this normal? I usually don't have too much skin issues, hence not sure if this has to do with pregnancy....
- 2022-02-17Hi is it normal to feel more horny at 19 weeks? Anybody experiencing this too?
- 2022-02-17I feel hopeless in life. I just got married and I found out my husband talking to another girl, who he claimed as a long time friend. They haven't been chatting for many years and recently just started catching up. They sent photos to one another as he said they haven't seen each other's faces for years. He also send her photo of a sunset, and the food he eats daily. He told her he's married and has a unborn baby on the way. Still, she still sends him good morning everyday, and replies him around odd timings like 1.30am. Even when she's busy with work, she finds him to chat. I just feel disappointed that my husband ask me to be more open minded about him chatting with his friends and wishes me to understand his culture of friendship. Please advise. #advise #husbandfriends #hormones #first pregnancy

- 2022-02-17My mum was covid positive on Sunday and her result was negative today. But during her isolation days, she secretly comes out to use the common bathroom because the water wasn't hot enough in the master's bedroom. She also insisted in watching TV in the living room when no one was at home. Yesterday she asked me to get out of the house so she could go out to use the common space since I'm pregnant, and might get the virus. I went out fishing with my hubby and haven't went home since yesterday. This morning my dad was confirmed covid positive. I'm so stressed 'cause I don't feel good sleeping outside, my hands and gums are numb and painful. My hubby doesn't allow me to go back home as well, and don't allow me to go work because covid cases and HFMD are in the rise at work. #pandemicseason #fearofgettingcovid #pregnancy #stress #problems
- 2022-02-17Are babies born in early part of the year (Jan/Feb) smarter than their peers born in Dec?
Seeking fellow mummies’ opinion if you have any thoughts or experience to share about TTC and planning birth month. Did you consider which month your baby would be born?
There are some research studies which found that Jan babies have an upper edge compared to their peers born in later months as they have more time to grow and develop. #TTC #birthmonth #janbabies

- 2022-02-18Do you know what is a Diastasis Recti?
It is a separation of your left and right abdominal muscles due to pregnancy.
The most obvious symptom is the bulging tummy that never go away even with exercises.
However, it is not advisable to do any core workouts when you have a Diastasis Recti.
You can actually check for Diastasis Recti by yourself.
If you need more information on Diastasis Recti, feel free to ask away :)

- 2022-02-18Hi, my baby boy is 3 mths 25 days, but he is still unable to hold up his head steadily and will always need to be supported. Have tried daily tummy time and at times, he will hold up his head for a short while, though most times he will just be wailing and lying there. Have also tried putting him on his back whilst he hold on to a bar (with our help) to lift him up (similar to doing sit up), but his head will just tilt backward. Have brought him to see the paediatrician 2 weeks back and doc’s advice is to monitor till he is 4 mths. Baby is reaching 4 mths and it’s getting worrisome.

- 2022-02-18Great quality! Been carrying this around wherever I go with my baby. Comfy for both me and my baby
- 2022-02-18Used this even though I haven’t popped! Very comfortable to wear and not hot at all
- 2022-02-18Good quality! Using this when the a/c gets a bit chilly but need to breastfeed at home. Good buy
- 2022-02-18I feel the compression but it’s not too tight that I’m uncomfortable. Could wear this all day! Great qualty
- 2022-02-18Love love to this wear under my dresses. Provided enough compression without restricting my movement.
- 2022-02-18For my bub, it’s effective at calming him when he’s uneasy and gassy. He sleeps better too when I apply this, lifesaver!
- 2022-02-18I’m a paranoid mum so I’ve been applying this after every diaper change to ensure my baby doesn’t get any rash. So far so good!
- 2022-02-18Anyone explaining a lot of dry coughing during first trimester? Sometimes the cough will lead to vomit directly, but sometimes it is just coughing for a while.
Online said it is quite common for pregnant lady due to hormone changes. But it has been annoying for quite some time (a week), wonder if I should go to gynae to ask for some med.
- 2022-02-18can we eat this during pregnancy?
- 2022-02-18Any mommies stop breastfeeding as early as 7 weeks? I am dealing with low supply, tried all means and it never goes up. Power pump, lactation cookies, fennel tea, breast massages, 2 hour pumps… I’m really exhausted and feel like stopping. But mum guilt hits me hard and I can’t put myself to stop even though the yield is as pathetic as 30ml per pump.
- 2022-02-18My baby is only 2 months. And my milk is decreasing. Tried many lactation drink n cookies doesn't work for me. My baby latch in the morning & I pump at night. Is there any other way?

- 2022-02-18Hi mommies, today I am week 16 and still vomiting... There are so many basic food smells that I can't tolerate.
It started with just garlic which was already bad enough as most foods contain garlic... But recently it has become that almost all meats and even eggs taste funny to me. I can't stand fried foods and smoky smell even like when water is boiling or toasted bread. But I am so hungry, if I don't eat a proper meal on time I vomit too.
Anyone else going through food aversions? All the mommies around me never had eating problems like me.

- 2022-02-18Hi mummies! What time do your contractions start and with a baby boy or girl? #firstbaby
- 2022-02-18Hi mummies, I'm a SAHM but I'm pumping instead of latching my boy. I have no help at all except my husband. My husband will be going back to work soon and I feel like with my time being occupied by my LO, I might have no time to pump.
Currently with my husband's help, I am able to pump around 2-3 hours for 30 mins. Without his help I had to go around 4-5 hours before I have a "window" to pump for about 15-20 min. Which actually doesn't really help with the engorged breast.
I'm exclusively pumping due to my son was in Nicu and was born early so we would like to monitor his intake. I did try to latch a few times but i think the "flow" is too fast and he "vomited" a few times after every latch as he is also a impatient eater, probably taking in more then he can digest.
Was wondering if there's anyone in the same situation as me and what is your pumping routine like?
TIA for your replies!

- 2022-02-19I understand that we are able to get maternity insurance from week 13 onwards. N I’m turning 11 weeks tomorrow and on week 12 I’ve an appt with the gynae to do an Oscar test to check for Down syndrome. N the insurance company tell me it’s not advisable to do the checks before week 13 in case there is some medical issues, I might have difficulty getting insurance coverage. What should I do? Does Oscar test result come out on the same day? And also…I’m currently also on meds for my depression n anxiety, seeing a dr for it. Does that means also that I might have difficulty getting insurance coverage?

- 2022-02-19We would recommend Dr Tan Kai Lit from Thomson Medical Centre. My pregnancies are managed by him, with 2 c sections.
He is a confident & assuring gynae with vast experiences and often share his knowledge with us. His recommendations are great when it comes to many different methods for test or solutions. For example, he would explain to us the different types of instrument & methods for testing Down syndrome during the first trimester, what are the risks and what are the advantages.
Dr Tan is patient towards answering our questions & doubts especially when we became new parents for my first pregnancy. For every session before we head home after the consultation, he would never fail to ask us if we have any questions for him.
The assistants & nurses over at the clinic are very welcoming and friendly. They made the clinic lively!
My husband and I have positive and pleasant parenting and pregnancy experiences all thanks to Dr Tan and his team!

If you are already seeing a gynea, do you need to inform her that you decided to go for IVF or can you just inform the hospital to arrange an appointment for you?
Thank you!
