- 2022-12-12Hi! My 13mths old boy loves to scream when he is excited especially in crowded places with many children or people. I don’t exactly mind about his screaming because I think he is just excited and his form of expression. But it may disturb others. He is going on his first flight next month and I’m worried that he will scream in the airplane 😅. Any tips from mummies ? How do I kinda stop him from screaming ?
(I used toys to distract him but that only last for a short while)
Does your baby loves to scream as well?
Share your experiences please!
Thanks in advance!

- 2022-12-14Hello everyone! Excited to “see” you! I am Dr. Lee LJ, Chief Scientific Officer from Nutrigene. Together with the team at TAP, we would love to help as many of you on improving your baby's brain development.
------------------------------------
Have you ever thought how genes influence your child development? What kind of genetic disease or disorders can affect to your kids? What are the genetic testing available in Singapore?
Here are some questions asked in our community, and we got the answers for you ✅
👩: If my me and my hubby weren’t book smart, does that mean my child will be the same? Or can we teach him to be more curious and feel the need to want to learn more?
What are the key guide recommendations you could give to start early to support brain development?
FYI my child is 18 months!
👨⚕️:Nope, apart from genetics factors, there are still environmental factors that parents can actually cultivate the learning habit at the earlier stage!
Parents and other caregivers can support healthy brain growth by speaking to, playing with, and caring for their child. Children learn best when parents take turns when talking and playing, and build on their child's skills and interests.
👩: Does autism count as a genetic disorder?
👨⚕️: Genetic factors are estimated to contribute 40 to 80 percent of autism spectrum disorder risk. The risk from gene variants combined with environmental risk factors, such as parental age, birth complications, and others that have not been identified, determine an individual's risk of developing this complex condition. Thus, autism is partially determined by genetics.
👩: Exactly how do genetic factors affect brain development in our kids? 😅
for example, if my hubby has ADHD does it mean my kids will have also?
👨⚕️: Genetics will influence the development and function of the brain, and ultimately control how we move, think, feel, and behave. Combined with the effects of our environment, changes in these genes can also determine whether we are at risk for a particular disease and if we are, the course it might follow. Cognitive abilities are substantially influenced by genes, with approximately half of the variance in general cognition attributed to genetic factors. Specific abilities, including attention, working memory and declarative memory are also heritable.
Available evidence suggests that ADHD is genetic—passed down from parent to child. ADHD seems to run in at least some families. At least one-third of all fathers who had ADHD in their youth have children with the condition. What's more, the majority of identical twins share the ADHD trait.
- 2022-12-14Noob question 🤣 but I was wondering , does people who have small breasts (A cup / B cup type) successfully breastfed their baby? I'm quite flat chested and I'm worried that it might contribute to a failure of breastfeeding as baby will have a harder time to latch on. I was unsuccessful with bf-ding for my firstborn , but I wanna try with my upcoming one. Bm is definitely the best for babies and I really don't wanna resort to formula feeding unless there's really no production. Care to share your experiences (for those with small boobies? But success in bf)
- 2022-12-14Mummies who've given birth recently at KKH(sub) , do they still give out the goodie bags? 😅 And also , mind sharing what was provided during your stay there?
I don't want to overpack thus wanted to know what is provided heheh.
Also I read online that baby birth cert now is digital right? So we just register online?

-------------------------------------------
Here are some questions asked in our community, and we got the answers for you ✅
👩How can we build a better relationship after childbirth?
👩⚕️ Here are a few ways of strengthening your relationship:
1. Acknowledge change - It's okay to take time to grieve and to adjust to this change, but don't forget to celebrate you and your partners wins!
2. Find humour in everything - This will not only help strengthen your relationship but will also help you get through those tough moments.
3. Keep your physical intimacy alive - Even if you can’t have sex now, you can still hug and kiss! This may not come naturally to new mums, but allowing yourself to rest in your spouse’s embrace can do wonders.
4. Quality time - It is important to have meaningful conversations and time together, even if it's for 5 minutes! Check-in and see how their doing and share how you are feeling too.
👩How can the husband support wife overcome this?
👩⚕️ There are several ways you can support your wife, but here are a few:
1. Remember to take care of your own physical and mental health - this is very important!
2. Read up and learn more about postpartum mental health topics, such as postpartum blues/ depression/ anxiety, in case your wife may be showing signs and symptoms.
3. If you have noticed that your wife is struggling, please approach her mindfully and do not force her to seek support if she resists.
4. Don't forget to hug her often, help her out around the house, and remind her of your love and care.
5. Be patient with yourself and your wife! It may take some time for your wife to adjust to this change, but try to remind her of your love for her and take the initiative to suggest ideas for you to bond again.
👩 Should we still do regular date nights?
👩⚕️If possible, yes, yes and yes!
Time and energy may not be plentiful during this time, so set new realistic expectations and find creative ways to connect! This could be as simple as doing chores together or taking 5 minutes out of your day to check in on

- 2022-12-16Hi mummies, I’m a first time mum, and I noticed my son’s stool is not the usual stool he has daily basis. Previously he had greenish strand of mucus in his stool which i have already consulted doctor @ KKH. Said that its normal. Today my boy had mild fever, and started to have these type of stool. Is it diarrhea? He poops about 2 times today. Both had the same consistency. Pasty and watery. My son is BM & Formula Fed. Pls advise. Thank you 🥺🥺

- 2022-12-17hi, can anyone recommend me responsible and good confinement lady
- 2022-12-17Hi everyone. I'm currently 4 weeks 3 days pregnant. I visited a gynae 3 days back as I was spotting and having very bad menses like cramp. My spotting has since stopped, but the cramps are persistent, just on my left side. Occasionally feels like something stabbing me, but very bearable. Hcg on 4 weeks was 479. No sac visible in scan, but I understand it might have been too tiny.
Should I see a gynae again or wait out till 6 weeks? Concerned about ectopic pregnancy...
Thanks all.

- 2022-12-17Hi, just wondering for mommies who had given birth in both NUH and KKH, what's the difference between two and which is better in your opinion. My first 2 was at KKH. And now I'm expecting a 3rd next yr July. Just wondering if NUH services is better than KKH as most of my friends goes to NUH for their pregnancy and labour rather than KKH.
