Childcare or grandparents for 20mo? what would you choose and do you have any experience to share. On one hand I feel that grandparents love is good for my child but on the other hand I feel that CC will help my child to be less coddled and more independent and adventurous (eg grandparents carry lots, don't bring him to play group due to zika, helps him too much and give him little room for exploration and me-time) as he he seems like a rather cautious boy. He's very well socialised so that's not thr main reason for gg CC. should i wait til he is older for CC ? is it cruel to put him in at such a young age?

Currently i am in tis dilemma too. In the end, we decide to send to cc. Reason being 1. We want our lo to mingle around 2. We did promise my mum that once my lo turn 18month,we will try our best to put her in cc 3. We want my mum to rest and relax as she is turning 70 yrs old.. At first i am afraid,as all along i have my mum with me as my hubby is always overseas. But like my husband said,we have to start sending her to cc,the sooner the better. If ever i need help,i will have to ask my mil nw as my mum will in jb most of the time. But i did ask my husband to make an effort to spend sometime with my mum in jb over the weekends. We agree on that n nw my lo is on the waiting list. We will just take 1 step at a time.

I would choose grandparents over cc. I hv peeped and saw what cc teachers did to my kid and it resulted in negative behavior. I also had visiting parents who saw what happened. To me, grandparents love are better, anytime, than cc. However, we cannot exclude sch totally as making frds is an equally important process. Perhaps, consider letting your child do a half day at cc. It reduces his anxiety and will make him look forward to sch. Or better yet, let him start at 30months. I think that will be a gd age since he can express himself better.

Childcare for me. I am seeing how my in lws are dealing with my child. Yes they love them. But at the same time they are pampering them and restricting them in many things. From self feeding to being independent. It's not cruel to be placed into a cc at young age. I send my elder at 2.5yr old. I send my younger at 21mo. in fact my younger is adapting well and very independent in doing things. look on the positive and measure out the pros and cons of going into a chor are

that's good to hear! I m wondering if they will laugh and be as happy in cc as at home..sigh

To reply to your query above , I think lo will be happier with grandparents than going cc ( for now. My lo has been going for 1 mth. Maybe he'll be happier soon. Idk). Someone ( older!) told me , we think that sending kids to cc they will learn more etc - it's true , but with grandparents they feel more secure. If I had a choice I'd put lo in abt 3yo. Or send to half day cc ? Idk. Btw, no aggression yet

Cc for me.. I see huge improvement in my boy ever since he started cc at 23 months old. In terms of communication, Recognising abc 123, singing most of the nursery songs blah blah blah...... To me, Grandparents role should be playing with grandchildren.. Once a while take care is ok but not on daily basis.. It's so tiring for elderly to chase after a toddler..

true that..txz:)

My experience was choosing both CC and grandparent, as I was working non regular hours thus it will be tough to let my MIL to babysit my boy the whole day. If I am still working during evening,my MIL only need to take care of him few hours before I fetched him.

Childcare without a doubt. If it's just to help out once a week I will send to grandparents. Then they can bond as well. However child care is better. The child will be more exposed. More over everything there is specially catered to their needs.

there r some articles saying kids shld not go CC below 3 as they may become more aggressive. not sure how true it is?

Grandparents take care of able to and maybe ur child can go for some playgroup classes once or twice a week? My Child will start 3 hour pre-nursery next year when he's about 3 years. I feel childcare hours are way too Long.

Cc. Coz grandparents will be tired to takecare. My in laws so tired that request to send my Son Loh. I have no regret afterthat. Good to send them to cc. I have 3 and all at childcare and student care.

I would choose childcare. Btw u mentioned that his grandparents carry him a lot, do not bring him to playground, very little me time n time for exploration then who does he specialised with ?

with grandparents..sometimes they will bring to market or malls so there's abit of socialising too!
