11 mths boy not waving & cant identify objects
Hi mummies. My current boy just turn 11 mths 1) still not waving. Only know how to raise his hands up when we carry him up. Super worry about the waving part because i seen so many babies able to wave by 10 mths 2) cant identify objects. E.g. have been teaching him that this toy is lion. And when test his understanding & ask him to pass me the lion, he could not do 3) no words. Only babbling mama, dada, mum mum Just curious. When does ur baby achieve these 3 milestones? Based on what i read, these 3 are 9-12mths milestones

Hey mama! It's what some of the other mummies have shared - babies hit these milestones in quite a wide range of age. BUT! I understand how nerve wrecking it may be when you feel your child might be behind. It's ok to feel the way you do 🤍 I wanted to share some things I did to just provide more opportunities for my child to learn - no forcing and no expectations and no frustration directed at him. My son is 10.5m for reference and I used to work as a early childhood teacher ☺️ 1. I tried to just wave at my son at first and he didn't pick up the skill. Instead, I introduced a mirror where I first started playing with him through reflections and gradually started to just say "hello! Can you wave?" And did the action. Over time he slowly started to copy me through the mirror, and then I slowly moved to waving to other people by getting him to wave to grandma every morning when we wake up and come out of the room. Now he understands when I say "can you say hello to papa?" He only started really picking this up in the last week though, and progressed really fast when I kept reinforcing and giving opportunities :) 2. Asking baby to pick an object and pass to you involves too many skills! Baby needs to understand the object, understand the action, know how to pick up, know how to move to you, know how to release. It's a bit too complex. Try encouraging visual tracking! E.g. you can say "where's lion?" And if he doesn't look, you can pick up the toy and say "here's Lion!" And keep using the word like "Lions go roar!" "Lion is coming to you!" "Lion is wagging his tail". One day it's gonna click for baby and he might start to visually track lion. Be super excited and clap for him and articulate this "wow you know how to look at lion!" Then slowly move to "can you take Lion?" Before you even move to "can you give mama Lion?" 3. Same! Don't worry :) my child can only say these three, and he visually tracks other words like: milk, snack, bolster, ahma, gugu, dinosaur, mirror etc. for visual tracking it's really repetition and consistency. So just keep talking to baby even for the smallest things like "mama's making your milk!" instead of asking questions or expecting him to perform certain actions at this point :) Hoping this helps! Take care 🤩
Read moreeh u need to chill and not worry so much about the above 3 points especially the 3rd one. Most babies at 11 months don't even say anything more beyond mama, papa. He could just be slower to learn the other 2 but doesn't mean he has any developmental problem. If the dr didn't mention anything of concern with regards to his learning ability during his development checkup then you shouldn't read too much into it
Read moreI can't rmb if mine could do t point 1 and 3, but point 2 I'm pretty sure mine couldn't do at 11 months. Suggest to give him a couple months more, kids do develop at their own pace.
Agree you should just give your child some more time as each child learn at their own pace. Don't give yourself and your child unnecessary stress
