A thermometer is definitely a need. I bought Braun ear thermometer for my #1st child aft I gave birth to her back in 2017, it still works well until now. Good to have when they suddenly randomly fall sick.

Not only for newborn. Is good to have in the household as kids will eventually get sick one day

Can just use normal thermometer for newborn.

Norma thermometer would suffice unless you have extra budget.
