Most of the time are the nurses monitoring the progress of the labour. Doctor will only come to deliver when the baby is ready to come out and stitch the wound later on etc.
For me, only nurses were there during my labour. My doctor only went there twice to burst my water bag and to check the progresss but she was the one who delivered my baby.
It's normal~ I think a midwife does more than a doctor. You will only see your doctor towards the end, before you deliver.
Initially it was only a nurse. But a doctor came in to assist during the push.
