Are there different levels of Down Syndrome? Some being less serious than others? Or is it more a personality difference?

Down Syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality, a child with Down Syndrome has 47 chromosomes instead of the typical 46 chromosomes. Therefore, a child either has Down Syndrome or does not. However, some children with Down Syndrome are born with other health conditions eg heart problems, hearing loss, eyesight problems etc. These conditions may affect their developmental skills. Hence some children with Down Syndrome will have higher function levels and some lower function levels. Children with Down Syndrome can be educated and support from parents, family members, teachers and the public is important to help them progress.
