I personally feel it's Your Baby’s First Year Week by Week; by Dr. Glade Curtis, M.D., and Judith Schuler, M.S. I like that this book as I can read about what developments I might expect from my newborn in the week ahead rather than having to absorb a lot of information all at once. Filled with health facts and planning advice, there’s even a section to keep track of your baby’s medical records for the first year. The book also provide information like cleaning stuffed animals to new guidelines for car seats to tips on infant massage. I imagine this is the book I’ll turn to when I need practical advice.
I flipped through the pages of "No Regrets Parenting: Turning Long Days and Short Years into Cherished Moments with Your Kids" by Harley Robart on a whim one day because it was lying around on a friend's coffee table. Later, I borrowed it from her because I felt weirdly attached to it. It is a wonderful book with nuggets of wisdom for busy parents about being present in the life of your children. The book's size in its own right is a statement to busy parents -- they have no excuse not to read it no matter how busy they say they are.
Here is a list of five books Here’s a list of five books that covers a wide range of topics that a new parent ought to know: http://pregnant.sg/articles/5-best-books-for-new-parents/ I personally think that the third one (Diary Of A Baby: What Your Child Sees, Feels, And Experiences) would be an interesting read for new parents. It offers a different perspective (from the baby’s point) from other books.

The Wonder Weeks by Dr Frans Plooij. It's a worldwide bestseller. You can also download the app if you are not into reading books. Basically the book or app tells you when your baby will be grumpy/needy and what amazing skills he/she's developing which are making him/her so irritable.

Smart Parenting for Smart Kids and Einstein Never Used Flash Cards are the books for me. I think, they are great eye openers as well as good teachers for parents.
