Hey guys, my LO 15mo. Ever since she younger she is very hyper active. So, Recently I bought her to several enrichment classes.. Like when come to flash cards, story telling or all kids of activities that the teaches perform, she just simply not interested whereby she can't focus even 2 secs .. I noticed the others kids none of them had focusing problem. She just want to walk away & do the things she want by herself. If I keep pulling her on the ground she will scream & start crying. Any advice on this ? Really worried what will be when she go to kindergarten.

My son also do his own things during the enrichment class . He even started to climb on the table and feeling restless while other babies are concentrating . Somehow the attention span for this age range group are super short. The enrichment trainer should be very expert in keeping the session short and sharp. Even though the child may seem restless and not focusing, it doesn't mean that they are not absorbing. Children are very smart as they are able to multitask at short time . My boy is 5 yrs old now he is fine in school since 2 yrs old . I believe there is Nothing serious for your gal .But if you really concern maybe can seek for specialist help .

Just let her do what she wants, she's actually listening when she's roaming around. She might be curious and exploring around. All kids are unique. So don't worry! My younger son is also hyper active type. He simply roams about during the enrichment class. Initially, I'm quite worry as well. But later I realized that he actually did listen so thereafter I just let him do what he wants. Don't worry, experience Kindergarten teachers will know how to handle them. Or perhaps she will behave differently in different environment. My boy behaves quite differently in school.

I hopes she does too. Thank u for ur encouragement

Try setting up a routine at home to help your child learn to focus: http://amotherfarfromhome.com/teaching-focusing-skills/ Referred to this article for some ideas on how to help toddlers learn to focus. See if there is any activity that you could do with her, colouring, puzzles, storytelling that would require her to sit down for a period of time. Perhaps if she could do that, you can progress from there.

Thanks for ur link.. I will read on it

Does she respond to you in a one to one situation and take an interest in what you are doing? Is she talking? Does she point out things to you and does she have good eye contact? Does she respond to you calling her name? If the answer to any of these is 'no', please get her seen by your paediatrician for the possibility of any developmental disorder.

She does all above u mentioned. So I m not worried she need to see a specialist for now. Thank u

At that age, this is normal behaviour. Maybe he is not ready? Does he explore his surroundings at your house? What activities does he normally engage in? A tip: No screen time until 2 years helps them focus better at tasks at hand.

Kammy, when your girl is younger as a baby, did she sleep a lot (nap in the day and sleep well in the night)?

Geraldine, she didn't sleep a lot when is younger. She is super light sleeper.. Compare to other babies she really sleep lesser. She is very alert & active. Even she is already slept in just a light on she immediately wake up & wave to u.. I'm worried becos she is too alert somehow. I understood kids are suppose to be active.

I would talk to her doctor about it and also maybe try a new approach
