You may consider: 1. Bringing your wife to see a lactation consultant 2. Trying nipple shields 3. Trying some other suction devices that help to draw the nipple out Importantly, regardless of the type of nipple, the amount of breast milk pumped out is quite little at first, and increases gradually, so encourage your wife and support her:) Ensure she eats well, drinks loads of fluids (3L/day) and gets enough rest. Initially, she will need to pump every 2-3 hours during the day time to build up the supply, and can try power pumping. Direct latching (with the nipple shield or after drawing out the nipple) is also a very powerful way to build the milk supply, especially if baby can suck well for a good duration. Do your best, and don’t be afraid to top up with formula milk if required, so that baby won’t be dehydrated, and if baby has jaundice, that will help to clear the jaundice faster too. Lastly, it’s wonderful if your wife decides to persevere and give baby as much breastmilk as she can! ❤️ But if she chooses to stop, whether it’s because it’s too difficult or tiring or other reasons, do support her too. Baby will still do well:)
There is a shield for inverted nipple. You can go to mother care/ kiddy Palace and ask. Try massage and warm compress before pumping and do check if the flange is the right size too. Eating threadfin fish, oats, milo, barley and durian can boost supply too. If your wife just give birth do take note that milk supply kick in differently for different people mostly 1 week after delivery.
Have you consulted a specialist? They can advise you accurately. I would just advise to continue with breast pump...tho little at least baby still gets some breastmilk
Frequent pumping helps to increase supply and also solve the issue of inverted nipples. I had the same issue initially, and it was corrected after 1 or 2 weeks.
There is a tool that can help flat or inverted nipple. Pumping often can also help to build supply.
The little part could be caused she just give birth? Supply take some time to kick in.
Try nipple puller if it's not too inverted
