My LO started off with low levels at 87 but at 3rd day polyclinic check, it went to 289 so had an overnight stay in hospital. Gradually went down with every few days jaundice check at polyclinic and was checked out from polyclinic after 2 weeks with levels at 79. It's said that babies will have breast milk jaundice for first week + if you're breastfeeding so nothing to worry about. :)
Very common. Dw. My LO’s reading was also 200+. I recalled once even hit 278! Her jaundice eventually cleared up within her first month... She’s a happy bubbly baby now :) Remember to keep latching, as peeing n pooping will help clear jaundice (as advised by her PD to us).
@ feifei. Thanks! I feel better.
Yup. The highest was 226 but when she drank milk frequently, it went down and stabilised in a week. Don’t worry, once your baby drinks more milk, it’ll go down...the bilirubin will be flushed out in your baby’s pee and poo.
Yup. Very common. I have to keep bringing to polyclinic for checks.. Must keep feeding milk every 2 hours including at night. My baby's jaundice level drop quite significantly after that.
What I worried was my LO is premature. Anyway thanks for telling me
Very common it happens to both my kids also. Went poly clinic often to test and once jaundice level is trending down the doctor should stop the testing
Sorry to ask, is your children born full term?
