My two-year-old hasn't started walking yet, though he can stand up on his own and walk with support. My wife and I are worried about it. Should we go to a doctor or wait for some more time?

Each child grows and learns differently. The milestone chart is a guideline for us to observe our LO's developmental stages. If your LO and stand stably and walk with support, then most probably he knows how to walk. Try giving him the pre-walker and let him walk with it on his own. You can also hold both his hands and walked him around with you standing. Or you can go down to his level with you squarting infront of him hilding both his hands and encourage him to walk towards you. Then you slowly let go 1 of your hand then when he is more confident let go both hands. Or even put the toy that he likes infront of him and encourage him to go and take it. Sometimes LO could be lazy or lack of confident, thus parents need to encourage and cheer him on. You may want to monitor for awhile first? If still worried, can go and consult doctor for advices=)

You should always consult a doctor in such cases. But every kid learns and grows differently. There is no such time period or age of learning things for kids. It has been observed that toddlers do not try walk if they get support in moving around like holding objects or walkers. You would never learn to swim until you get into deep waters - same concept applies to your baby.

Bring him for a check up if you are worried. Kindly understand that each child will progress differently. I can understand your worries as I'm the same when my boy still didn't walk at 18 months. He seems to be a little bit slower than his peers in terms of physical and motor skills. Just bring your child for a check up so you and your Wife could have a peace of mind.

diffrent children has diffrent steps of growibg up.i hav 4 kids as i can see they each got diffrent steps example my 1st walks when he is 9months,2nd 1yr plus,3rd 1yr and the last boy 9 months..we can train them slowly don have to force them. One day he/she can do it all by themself.

my son started flip at 10mths and crawl at 11mths and walk at 17mths. we went for usual checkup at polyclinic and was told he was fine. just that he was lazy. so need to encourage him to keep standing and walk with assistance. every babies are different.

If he can stand without support, mean he can stand. Can he walk with support? Like holding the sofa side walk from 1 end to the other end? Have u start him with those pre-walker for him to push and walk? Are you always protective?

2 year is on the far end of the usual timeframe for kids to walk. You should definitely consult your kid's pediatrician in this matter. He might be able to guide you better, and point to the right resources.

No worry. Normally boy will start later than girl of the same age group. My boy also start walking almost 2 years old and he yet start to talk compare than his older sister.

see a doctor...he may need some physiotherapy... see pediatrician and then see a orthopedic specialist if pediatrician agrees
