How can I prevent menstrual pains?

6y ago

In TCM perspective, during the menstruation period, excessive blood is gathered in the thoroughfare vessel meridian and conception vessel meridian, making them prone to stagnation, which will result pain. Therefore, any factor that can contribute to the stagnation should be avoided as much as possible. This includes cold drinks and food, excessive stress and being overworked etc. In the event that the menstrual pain is already happening, here are a few acupuncture points you can press to relieve the pain 1. LI4 Hegu(合谷)- On the back of the hand, between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones. 2. LV3 Taichong(太冲) - On top of the foot in a depression close to the junction of the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones. 3. SP10 Xuehai(血海) - With the knee bent 90 degrees, 3 fingers width above the top of the knee cap, 45 degrees towards the inner side of the thigh. These may help to relieve the pain. However do seek help from a TCM physician if the condition persists or worsens.
