Should we save our baby's umbilical cord stump?

It's up to your personal preference, my mum saved mine and I saved my son's! They're kept in a red packet with a small snippet of newborn hair and in a high, discrete place, meant to be for keepsake - some also believe it helps to ward off the evil too. I went a little extra for my son's, made a keepsake necklace with his umbilical cord and my breastmilk with our names on it (I'm a single parent hence only two names and hearts)!

Haha it is nice and sentimental, but I don't wear it at all so ... it's kinda just in the box not doing much :/

though this may sound very disgusting for some, my mom saved my umbilical cord. For her it was the connection between both of us. She always says this, "you look exactly like your paa and this cord reminds me that we both are connected" I kept my daughter's too.. Its been over 8 months now. I kept in a cloth sewed by myself. There are no molds or anything its perfectly fine :)

You know, I stumbled across my umbilical cord a few years ago, thought it was gross and that there was no need for it, so I threw it away. I ended up keeping my daughter's umbilical cord in a red packet, just like how my parents did. If you don't want to keep it lying around, you can transform it into a keepsake! :)

You can make it into a umbilical cord stamp for keepsake. http://babysouvenir.com.sg/our-products/umbilical-cord-stamp/stamp-series.html?p=2 For me, I just keep it in a clear plastic sealer.

It is not a compulsion, but if you really want to preserve it for memory sake, best get it stamped instead of the actual because it might turn disgusting.

I guess it’s more for memories? I saved our kids cord stumps only because my mum did it for me, and I thought it would be nice to do the same.

it depends on you..some do that as keepsake.. there's nothing wrong if you do it or not.. it's you and your husband preferences.

it's up to you. i saved my kids though, felt that it was for memory sake and it holds a special meaning to my heart.

I just keep the stump in a red packet and in my drawers I may consider doing a keepsake for all
