My husband just recovered from dengue. While he had dengue his blood count was 102 and he wasn’t hospitalized but after he recovered from dengue, he noticed his chest feels tight and occasionally pain which also affected his daily jog. Could the heart problem be linked to dengue?

4y ago

You mean platelet count 102, that's not bad for dengue, very good! However, any viral illness can put a strain on the heart and after the 7 days of dengue he really should rest (no strenuous exercise, just walking) for another 3-4 weeks, while the body recovers. If in doubt definitely get assessed by your GP who will be able to advise on the next steps if required.

Hi Dr Cheryl, how to improve outcomes with foundational nutrients? How to prevent spread in non toxic ways? Thank you.

4y ago

When someone's basic nutritional status is poor, recovery from any illness will take longer. These include iron, zinc, vitamin D. Prevent spread by using ETL NO. 9 formula that is plant based and safe for use in plant pots, in soil, and areas where there may be stagnant water. Always clear drains and plant pots. Etl no. 9 is also suitable to be used directly on the skin as a mosquito repellent.

How to prevent dengue fever for pregnant moms and newborns? And if contracted, what to do?

Use non toxic sprays as above, etl no. 9 and wear long clothing when going out in mosquito infested areas.

Is the natural treatment for dengue cheaper than the usual method (ie: using medication)?

At this present moment there is no known medication for dengue and supportive measures such as hydration and pain relief is usually what's given.

How effective is this natural treatment for dengue towards children and adults?

Studies have shown papaya leaf extract is safe and has been associated with improved platelet levels. A risk of dengue is uncontrolled bleeding, and better platelet levels can help to prevent this.

What are some sensible home care for non hospitalized dengue cases?

4y ago

Hydrate, with water, coconut water, papaya leaf extract by AKESI wellness remain bed bound, for the 7 days from onset of fever. even though you feel well during this time the blood pressure is prone to drop suddenly and when dizzy you can fall. Paired with an increase bleeding risk, a knock to the head can bring on a prolonged bleed in the brain.

You're so welcome!

hi! heard papaya leaf can be a good treatment. is it true?

4y ago

Yes, that is one of the best and safest food based interventions that can help, along with good hydration and lots of rest.

can we differentiate a dengue bite vs usual mozzie bite?

4y ago

Unfortunately not. A high fever for more than 3 days along with feeling faint and having severe body aches - this is a good benchmark to seek a GP or hospital based care for a quick dengue serology blood test.

What tests are available to confirm a case?

4y ago

Dengue ns1 rapid test together with dengue igG test. Both require blood taking.
