I was reading through the various articles on this topic posted on the various hospital and healthcare websites: https://www.nuh.com.sg/ktp-nucmi/clinical-care/disease-and-conditions/kidney-liver-problems/jaundice-newborn.html https://www.singhealth.com.sg/PatientCare/ConditionsAndTreatments/Pages/Jaundice-Baby.aspx http://www.healthxchange.com.sg/healthyliving/childrenhealth/Pages/Jaundice-in-Newborn-Babies-and-Children.aspx All recommended that a mother continue to breastfeed her baby. You could find out more on why your PD made that suggestion. Another point worth noting is that, to date, there had been not been any known harmful effect found in babies who continued to be breastfed while having jaundice.

I have never stopped breastfeeding. My daughter had jaundice levels of 143 and it took about a week to clear. I hear ginger keeps the jaundice level high, but I can't confirm. I believe the benefits of breastmilk (especially the antibodies and nutrients) outweigh the risks (jaundice). Latch your baby more to flush out the jaundice. There are only very few instances where it is advisable to stop breastfeeding and that is when it endangers the health of either the mother or child.

My baby also had breastmilk jaundice and he is totally cleared now and it just slowly clears away without u realizing. I continues to breastfeed as recommended by my pd. My first baby had breastmilk jaundice too and it only cleared after she turned 8 weeks old. My PD did liver test on her and confirmed that she is having breastmilk jaundice instead of liver problem. Thus, PD encouraged me to just continue to breastfeed her more frequently.

Breastmilk jaundice is not harmful to the baby.please continue breastfeeding it will clear with time.it can last up until the baby is 3 months old....but make sure to continue monitoring it.

My lo has breastmilk jaundice also. Was told by a polyclinic doc to stop giving breastmilk, but i still continued to give bm. Jaundice did took longer to go away (after 1 mth).

just continue and take care of ur food intake.. try having vegetable soups during your postnatal..actually mother's milk have a cure for baby jaundice

I don’t encourage to stop breast feeding because it’s really good. But for jaundice, maybe you can do mix feed till he is clear??

Continue breastfeeding. Just temporary stop eating ginger or any heaty food.

thanks
