Hi dear, I’m 32 this year and it’s my first pregnancy. I did the detailed scan at 12 weeks. Did some blood test as well. Cost me total $285 at KKH. Within 3 working days a nurse will call you and let you know if you’re high risk for a Down Syndrome baby or not. As for me, I was slightly on the higher risk and they advised me to go for further tests. I told them I’ll decide on my next appt. My last appt was on 4th May (I was 16 weeks) and again they asked if I wanted to do further tests, I told them no I don’t want to cause regardless of whether it’s a Down syndrome baby or not, I’m still going to keep it. Bottom line is if you have the means, and if you just want to have a peace of mind, I would say just go for it. They will show you a mini flip chart of the different abnormalities and you can decide with your partner which one to go for. For some mummies, they don’t do it at all. Personally, I am ok with the detailed scan for down syndrome and I don’t need to go for further tests, I leave it all to my Creator on the health of my baby. Take some time to discuss with your partner ok?
I was pregnant when I was 26/27 and 30 years old. For me, I knew that I wouldn’t abort my babies regardless of the results, but I chose to do the test (it’s not just the risk profile for Downs Syndrome, but also Edwards Syndrome and Patau Syndrome), just for information, so that I could prepare myself if my baby was likely to have one of these. The blood tests and scans cost a few hundred dollars (private rate in a public hospital). If you’re going to keep the baby regardless, it’s less important to do the test now. The foetal anomaly scan at about 22 weeks would also show abnormal features if baby does have syndromes.
I don’t do down syndrome test but I done the fetal anomaly scan in 20 weeks of pregnancy..Honestly, fetal anomaly scan is cheaper than down syndrome test..that’s why i took it but I also believe that God will give the best for us (although i was little worried if something abnormal in my baby) but believe to myself and baby that we will be healthy..i’ve already in love with my baby.. It depend on you cause when you take the test and if something happened..it’ll will be your choice..please stay positive and healthy💪
Hi mommy. Congratulations on your pregnancy. It is actually according to your preferences. Will the result change the way you are accepting the baby? If you thing that the results won't change anything. You don't have to go for the test. ❤️
I Went for it for a piece of mind, i was 24 at the point of conception. The Oscar also included a detailed scan for the nose bridge, neck width etc which was a nice bonding time w baby
My wife did the test when she was pregnant at 29 and 30. We wanted to prepare ourselves in case there is any abnormalities but not abortion.
I think you can go for Oscar first, then only go for further testing if the results come out to be high risk.
Yes true...depends on ur preferences.. If u think its not important then just follow ur suit.. 😊
Just do the first trimester test/oscar will do. If you feel insecure then opt for harmony test.
I did! I was 27 when pregnant.
