My kids at home use to have "kulitan" to the point that they already hit each other . One time I scolded them because of that and even spank there butts . Is it okay to discipline them like what i did or I'm doing it the wrong way ?

Our culture has been so used of corporal punishment that we still deem it necessary for disciplining our child. However, studies have shown that this kind of practice isn't beneficial, long-term speaking. It subconsciously creates anxiety, fear and intimidation among young kids. Eventually, they will carry it to adulthood. It's best to control your hands and discipline through words. Educate, according to Unicef. Here's their guideline should you need a more detailed read http://www.unicef.org/lac/spbarbados/Implementation/CP/Global/Educate_donthit_SaveManual.pdf

My kids do that a lot with their dad. I remind them always to be kind when they play. You can definitely set house rules like: no yelling, no hitting, etc They will respect those rules. If they don't, use time out. Time out is for them to reflect on their mistake and give them time to apologize.

Corporal punishment are not a good thing nowadays. Parents advise to ha have a time in and time out instead. If they've done something wrong, you just tell them your time out or you just stay for several minutes and you're not allowed to play.
