Baby takes most of the weight (3-4 kg) Then you have Placenta - 1 kg Amniotic Fluid - 1 kg Breast enlargement - 0.5 - 1kg uterus enlargement - 0.5 - 1kg fat stores - 1-2 kg muscle development - 1-2 kg increase blood volume - 1 kg increase fluid volume - 1kg Total weight gain should be at least 10 kg.

9 kgs is not very much. If you are worried, please don't be. Weight gain distributed amongst lots of things - not just baby itself.
