Baby takes most of the weight (3-4 kg) Then you have Placenta - 1 kg Amniotic Fluid - 1 kg Breast enlargement - 0.5 - 1kg uterus enlargement - 0.5 - 1kg fat stores - 1-2 kg muscle development - 1-2 kg increase blood volume - 1 kg increase fluid volume - 1kg Total weight gain should be at least 10 kg.

Other than your baby, the weight of the placenta, fluid and blood also adds to weight gain. Women of normal, healthy BMI should expect to gain about 11kg to 16kg, more for underweight women and less for overweight women. http://pregnant.sg/articles/dr-chew-answers-pregnancy-weight-gain/

9 kgs is not very much. If you are worried, please don't be. Weight gain distributed amongst lots of things - not just baby itself.

thanks
