Doc says I am at risk of both hypertension and gestational diabetes. What should I be eating to lessen this risk?

Cut down on your sugar intake, no sweets, no desserts, not even fruit juices that are sold in cartons. Dessert maybe once a week la, if u cannot tahan. Complex carbs. Fresh fruits and veggies. Lentils, chickpeas, beans. Fish, chicken breast. No fried foods, no processed food. U can download pregnancy diets online too. Or read up the food n nutrition part in this app.

You need to monitor your carbohydrates, eat low glycemic index foods, eat more protein and avoid sugary foods, starchy foods and hidden sugars. You can refer to the following link for more details: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319716.php

Reduce ur rice intake. Best to go for brown rice. For fruits wise, keep to oranges or green apples as most other fruits have higher sugar level. This is the advice given by my gynae when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet may help you manage your symptoms. Try to eat protein with every meal & include fruits and veggies in your diet. Limit or avoid processed foods too.

Less carbohydrates and sweet fruits. Replace rice with quiona, cauliflower or brown rice. More water intake too!
