Do you kiss your kids on the lips? I do that but have received stares from strangers and was wondering if I should stop doing it.

I don't get it. They are your kids. Why can't you kiss them on the lips? But I understand that once they reach a certain age they start to feel shy (especially boys) and it becomes socially awkward to kiss mummies or daddies on the lips. You should do it as long as it lasts you! They will outgrow it soon. Since you were on this topic, I do have people I know who refrain themselves from kissing their children on the lips lest they think it's normal and start kissing other adults they meet on their lips. So to prevent others from doing so they deprive themselves of the joy of kissing. Don't you think they're missing out?

I do kiss my daughter, but I don't kiss her on her lips that much. Babies younger than 3 months old with immune systems which are not fully developed are susceptible to cold sores which can be transmitted when an adult with the herpes virus kisses a baby on the mouth. For older kids, it's fine. http://www.popsugar.com/moms/Why-You-Shouldnt-Kiss-Newborn-38540700 http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/rendezview/i-dont-care-if-you-call-me-over-protective-just-dont-kiss-my-baby/story-fnpug1jf-1227549484319?sv=823e0012659fa82b4e5d8168d9f06154

i do it all the time with both my daughters, aged 4 and 10. in fact, it is one of our most natural and instinctive ways of kissing and showing our love. the first thing the younger one does when I pick her up from her school bus is to kiss me on the lips. I have also received a few looks from people, especially when me and my elder one kiss each other on the lips, but honestly, i'm not even bothered :)

Yes i do, and i will continue doing so. I personally feel the asian concept is way too over sensitive. Come on, what could be wrong with a kiss. If there is anything wrong, it would only be the persons mind. I get annoyed by it very much as well. I agree with the moms above, who cares what others think. Suit yourself. Lol. :)

oh yes, allllll the time :) only except when I am not well and may have some cold or cough. other than that, i always kiss my kids on the lips, and that is how they definitely kiss me too when they want .. i would say, let everyone stare at you when you kiss your kids on the lips, but don't make that stop you from doing it :)

I kiss my boys on their cheeks and I have never initiated kisses on their lips but they love to kiss me on my lips and they are already 5 and 7! What made you think those stares are negative stares? I sometimes look at parents interacting with kids and think about my own kids, so maybe they were just looking? :)

Yes i do however i do ensure that my mouth is as clean as i can manage before doing so. About the passing of diseases etc, theres diseases/germs everywhere anyway theres no point being so paranoid lor. Its my child so why not? Will definitely not kiss him on the lips once he is in primary school etc.

yes only when I'm not sick so I dont pass on the germs. I dont care ppl looking as its my kid not ur kid that I'm kissing. maybe they are just envious. I look at ppl kiss or cuddle their kids coz it look so sweet. so dont worry too much about what ppl think. maybe its not what you are thinking.

Yes i do and i dont see why not. Its our child and as mothers, we're well aware of the limits of our physical contact. Dont let it get to you, cherish this moments before they grow older and it wouldnt be a social norm to kiss them on their lips.

I do all the time! On the lips in public! Don’t have to worry about stares from strangers. It’s ur kid. Bring the up the way u want. My kid affectionately kisses me on the lips in public as well and he’s not shy about doing it. He’s 9 years old.
