It is recommended that sleep positioners not be used in your baby's bed. The ideal sleeping environment for a baby is a plain crib with just a fitted sheet over it. You can either swaddle your baby or use a sleep bag if you are afraid your baby will be cold. There is no need for a pillow at all. If you want to raise your baby's head, you can fold a piece of muslin cloth and place it under your baby's head. Muslin cloths are breathable and will not suffocate your baby. There is nothing on my baby's bed except a fitted cot sheet. I use a sleeping bag for her at night when it gets chilly. http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-safe-to-use-a-baby-sleep-positioner_10351053.bc

I think it depends on the baby. We had this for my son but he absolutely hated it and hated that he couldn't move around. Plus, I feel that he would outgrow this pretty quickly. If I remember correctly, it's about $100+ at Takashimaya so it's quite expensive for me. Sure, it's a good preventive measure to prevent SIDS, but I feel that an empty babycot that has no obstruction is just as fine.

'The No.1 mistake is that parents think that if they sell it, it must be safe. That's not true. Seep positioners are infact dangerous for baby and should be avoided U.S GOVERNMENT ADVICE TO PARENTS STOP using infant positioning products - they are dangerous and unnecessary NEVER put sleep positioners under the baby or in the crib ALWAYS place a baby on their back at nap time
