My little one is 2 months old now. I like to sit her on the corner of my sofa as she will be supported by the 2 sides of the sofa (L shape corner). However I have friends who say doing that is not good as it will have problems with the development of baby's spine. Is it true? Can't find much info on Google so thought of asking here.

Sitting is a developmental milestone, so I wouldn't rush it. It isn't advisable to prop your child up in a seated position when she isn't ready for it yet as it may be detrimental to her spinal development. Her neck muscles are also not strong enough to support her head as of yet. Do try placing her in a bouncer or rocker meant for newborns. http://blog.intellidance.ca/blog/2-15-2011/c-s-how-nurture-your-babys-spine-development http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a6505/developmental-milestones-sitting

If she is unable to support her own spine, gravity is acting down on it and she sits upright with a curved spine. That's not very good for her. She will sit when she is ready. That would be about 5 months for mine.

I would say let your baby develops her physical milestones on her own pace, without sitting the baby up. You may place baby on baby rocker that is designed for baby to lie in an inclined position.

It's not advisable to do so, it's better to wait till she's ready for it.
