Eh i tried once around the one year mark and never since (almost 2 years now)! My baby only wanted real food because of baby led weaning. So she literally ate whatever i ate super early. So in all honesty if ur baby is the same.... habis. Because travelling meant very little choices other than chicken and/or pasta, or non spicy options, or even worse undercooked food or possibly contaminated. Adults probably can handle food better but babies ooo i wouldnt risk it. I lost track how many times baby had diarrhoea and vomitting every time we had takeouts . urgh super painful to see baby sick 🤢 But for porridge there might be hope for u. Theres many brands out there that are reconstituted with hot water or just warm the pack in warm water. I see more made in Malaysia ones with local flavours, if not its purees u find in supermarkets kind but its all sweet sugary fruit stuff. Can pack lots of nibbles, dense snacks, dehydrated fruits too for on the go. That baby bites cracker thing might not be filling absolutely do not recommend I would recommend a simple multi pot for travel must be easy to clean and assemble. Safe to steam fruits/vegetables, boil eggs, make own rice maybe. Pack a smol bottle of oil if need stirfry. Find accommodation with a kichenette too really helps. Oo if buying cut fruits outside for safety just wash again pls. oh and dont sanitize baby hands with gel sanitizer or alcohol ones. The chemical taste stays when baby eats with hands yo. I just rinse hands by drains or above grass patches before offering a snack on the go. I think even worse is the plane. I cannot tell u how traumatizing it was for both me and baby. Our flight was 10 hours with connecting 2 hour and by then u are out of snacks. One flught was red eye and the other was after breakfast omg fml. Emirates offered us pouches but mine was mo puree or porridge kid so meh 😑 And mine was already running like a drunk at 12 months in a narrow aisle. And overbooked flight and no bassinet and not window seat. And omg diaper changing in a plane toilet waaa piang i cried so much. So much soft poop everywhere multiple changes of clothes even stained the plane seats omg i cannot relive it. I died and resurrected so many times with no sleep because which baby will be comfy with the pressure+ noise+ air+ smell + just everything. 12 hours of no sleep for me plus fully breastfeeding i cannot do it. Please bottle feed ur baby if u can i swear 😭 Lookie im spiralling at one am now just reflecting on that trip. I hope another parent shares a good experience instead haha rooting for ya?!

hi! you still have time to let your child practise transitioning to table foods. in the next 1-2months, most kids can do soup+rice/noodles, which can be commonly found in japan. they have amazing fruits there which your child can have for snack. my baby also enjoyed the ready to eat corn and sweet potatoes when we were there.

Since is Japan - I think u can look at Udon, soupy food, bread, Instant porridge (if ur stay cannot cook). My #1 had that when we travel to Tokyo with him, of coz milk carry on board and every where we go.

This Asian instant porridge pouch works great. Don’t need to heat up either. https://s.shopee.sg/9Ulzk8yVOQ I always get this when travelling overseas. Also keep some at home for busy days

we went to the grocery store n bought fresh food there to cook in the hotel.. we stayed in a service apartment
