Food for baby when travelling overseas

Hi mummies! Need help from experienced mummies who have travelled overseas with your 1 year olds. We're planning a trip to Japan in April, and my baby will be turning 1 that month. Currently he's 9 months plus and already transitioned to porridge (with bits of chicken, salmon, vegs, etc.). It's our first time traveling overseas with him, and my worry is that it's difficult to find food for him in the restaurants that we go to. What was your experience like? Did you make do with food at the restaurants and simplify it for your baby? Or did you pack some ingredients from home and cook food at your place before heading out? Or did you just pack food pouches (gerber, rafferty's, etc.) and prep them when you're out? Apologies for the super noob questions. First time travelling out and it feels SOOO daunting. And this is just the food part, haven't planned out the plane experience yet 😥 TIA for your suggestions mummies 😘
