MOM guidelines suggest at least '8 hours of continuous break from work'. http://www.mom.gov.sg/~/media/mom/documents/publications/fdw-weekly-rest-day/fdw-weekly-rest-day-english.pdf For my helper, she leaves at about 10am and is back by 8pm latest. I think what is most important is having a mutual agreement on the number of hours she wants to be away from home and the household chores she is expected to do before she leaves and once she is back.
Our helper go out about 8-9am+, come back about 8-9+, how long is not a problem, but she should be back by 9-10pm the latest, depend what ur family practice for lights off. Unless you all don't mind than latest by the timing before you all want her to sleep for the next day. After all, it's should be mutual agreement, hence she happy, you happy too. No conflict, during her day work too.
I don't understand why this concept it so difficult to grasp. It's the whole day!! Ie, she finishes work at the agreed time the night before, and she starts again the following day at the usual time. If you work at an office, weekdays 9-5, do you consider yourself "working" at 8 am on a Saturday?! How about 6pm on Sunday?
There is no specified time, but I would think a safe guideline to follow is the typical office hour work day - i.e. 9am to 6pm. You could discuss with her to see which timing she prefers. http://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/work-permit-for-foreign-domestic-worker/employers-guide/rest-days-and-well-being

Up to you. My helper usually goes out about 9am and comes back about 7pm. Sometimes earlier but never later. Before she leaves she mops the floor, washes the clothes and hang them out to dry.
My maid goes out at 10 am on sunday and comes home around 8 pm on Sundays.
thanks
