primary school
Is it compulsory to do Parent Volunteer to get into primary school?
If you die die and desperately want your child to be in a particular school, then yes, you can do parent volunteer work to increase your child's chances. Please bear in mind that it still does not gurantee your child a spot. To me personally, PV is going against what volunteering is really about. Volunteering means helping others without expecting any sort of reward... so why do parents do PV just to "bootlick" the school to get a spot? Just my 2 cents in case I accidentally offend someone.
Read moreNot compulsory. Slightly better chances. U must be ok to volunteer and at the end of the day if never get in, u are ok w it. If u are not then don't. Every school is a good school. Go elsewhere lor. Good school does not mean they will make ur kid good - ur kid ur responsibility to nurture. Those good and popular school are v competitive - so they may perform well because the profile of the parents of the students are that kind of kiasu ones in the first place. My 2 cents worth
Read moreNo, it is not compulsory unless you want to get into the primary school of your choice and wish to secure a place at higher chance (under Phase 2B). However, PV doesn't guarantee a place especially those popular schools. http://sg.theasianparent.com/getting-your-child-into-primary-school-%E2%80%93-parent-volunteer/ http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/

No its not compulsory. It just makes it an added point for you. However it does not guarantee that there will be a place for your child either. Maybe the odds are 50/50.
No. Just that it gives u more 'points' to be enrolled into that school. But there are still many factors to be considered other then just parent support group
Read moreNot compulsory - but advisable if u want to get in at Phase 2b. Must volunteer minimum 40 hours - though some of the popular schools like Nanyang require 80 hours.
Its not compulsory to be a parent volunteer. However not all schools accept parent volunteers too. So its pros and cons about it.
No it is not compulsory. Volunteering does not guarantee you a place in the school too.
