Not compulsory. Slightly better chances. U must be ok to volunteer and at the end of the day if never get in, u are ok w it. If u are not then don't. Every school is a good school. Go elsewhere lor. Good school does not mean they will make ur kid good - ur kid ur responsibility to nurture. Those good and popular school are v competitive - so they may perform well because the profile of the parents of the students are that kind of kiasu ones in the first place. My 2 cents worth
