How can we properly teach kids not to mock or sometimes bully other children who are disabled without sounding mean?

First, you have to let the kid understand what bullying is, and that you will not tolerate any kind of bullying. This will start by teaching the kids how to respect and be kind to others regardless of their condition and status in life. It is also important to teach kids how to socialize with other kids to prevent bullying among them. Lastly, be a good example to your kids and encourage them at all times to practice good behavior. I'm going to tell this to my daughter. That everytime we'll see a person with disability, we should pray for him or her that the Lord may Bless him and protect him from any harm. I'll always remind my daughter to help a person on a wheelchair to cross the street or enter into an establishment, give them the priority seats in public vehicles. With these, I think, my daughter will realize to respect anyone whether disabled or not.

It will really help if you teach the idea of empathy at an early age. I think it's a lovely concept. Ask the kid: "if you were in his/her shoes, would you like it if you do that?" then from there, build up what you wanted to teach. Hope this helps.

I teach them to pray for that kid and be thankful for God's protection and love. Also, i tell them to befriend them and be helpful at all times.
