My father and mother had a love marriage, but now they are against me chasing a boy I like. How do I tell them that it is not fair?

I think it's important to know their reasons for not being with you. Since they themselves had a love marriage, it seems difficult to believe that they would be against the concept of love marriage. You should sit with your parents and try to talk out the differences -- try to learn why is it that they are against your relationship. Is it the concept of love? Is it this particular boy? Or, are you spending so much time and energy on this relationship that you're ignoring your other priorities, e.g., studies? Please understand that parents always like the best for their children. It's understandable for parents who themselves had an arranged marriage to be against love marriage. But in your case, it seems your parents might have some reason behind their disagreement over this matter.

I guess, there must be some concerns if they do not like you to be the boy you love. You should address their concerns and logically ask yourself that they hold true or not. Say, if they do not find that boy to be genuine, ask them why do they think so, or what led them to think this way. Being a parent, now I realise what parents are concerned about. They want the best to happen to their kids and that is why they want to doubly sure about whatever decision they take or their kids take.

if they had a love marriage but are now against you having one, i am sure something is bothering them. please talk to them and ask them why they are opposed to this boy. or is it that they are opposed to you having a love marriage? if it is the former and they have a problem with only him, ask them their reasons. maybe you will get a new perspective on him and the relationship. if they are against love marriage for you in general, you already have your answer ready :)
