Shaving baby’s hair

Hi. Is it a must to shave baby’s head at least once? My in-laws have been nagging to shave it since birth. My son is 15m now, and they still wont let go. They keep telling me shaving is good for the baby. The hair will be even and thicker. Tbh, that doesnt matters to me. And so they changed their statement now. Now they tell me my son cant go into the temple if he doesnt shave. I told them me and my siblings did not shave as well. Why do they insist on shaving it?

It actually depending on yourself. Myths or not you decide - The reason behind it is because baby hair is tai Mao which will attract unnecessary "stuff" to disturb your baby. After shaving will be so call "clean". Facts- by shaving your baby hair will make their hair thicker and grow evenly. So called nicer hair in future. I did it and believed in both. As long as its good for my baby I'll do it no harm at all. But the real main reason because I had a hard time taking care my baby when she's nb. She always sleep halfway got shock or cries badly especially night time. Surprisingly after I shave I notice changes. She manage to have peaceful sleep too. Easier for me to take care too. Whether to believe it or not it's up to you.

I don’t think it’s a must to shave. I chose to shave my child’s hair because his birth hair very uneven, like balding old man. I envy babies with pretty birth hair :) Afterwards, I only cut his hair before his 1yo birthday party. You’re the mummy so baby is rightfully yours. They can say/threaten whatever they want but please be firm because once give in to something, more s*** will come :(

Its not true that baby's hair will grow out longer and thicker once shaved. In fact, it will cause abrasions or cuts if not done properly. We did not shave our baby's hair, we stood firm with our decisions since we are baby's parents and the ones taking care of her. If your decision is not to shave, let them know about your reasons and be firm about it.

Old wives tale I heard my from CL during confinement. Baby didn't shave hair cannot go into temple because baby not clean. Not clean meaning, baby head out from vaginal so not clean. I shoot back my CL, then C sect how? You say hair not clean then body clean meh!? Body also slipped through the vaginal what. Then she keep quiet. 😂

Elderly deem birth hair ‘dirty’ somehow. If like u said it matters less to u and matters alot to them, I don’t see why not do it? Of course you don’t have to give in to their demands everytime. Just some things like this that even you don’t feel strongly about.

then don’t. stand firm. u give in once, it be easier to keep giving in. i also refuse to shave my baby’s head. stupid theory about birth hair being “dirty”. why only hair?! why not say whole baby is dirty? *roll eyes*

I ever read up before , it's not true that shaving baby's hair will make them grow thicker & longer. You are baby's mother. If you think baby's hair shouldn't be cut, just stand firm! What's your husband's opinion or view on this?

U may choose to ignore them or reply them firmly that "I love his curly hair, I don't think I will shave it for now" I believe after few attempts they won't be asking anymore

Nope, not a must. It’s individual preference. My friend had her boy’s head shaven because she believed that baby cannot enter the temple unless shaven previously...so it’s also up to one’s beliefs.

No LA.. I keep shaving my boy hair when he was 2months -11months. Cause i prefer him botak and he easily sweat .. Hahaha. But his head is still very soft.

Not necessary to shave hair. Only if baby hair is too little or not growing evenly, can consider shaving baby hair for more even growth.
