Latching
Does newborn latch for comfort instead of really being hungry?
Sometimes. The way they suck is completely different, so you can usually tell whether it’s for comfort or feeding:) When it’s for feeding, the sucking is usually stronger, rhythmic, and you can see/hear them swallowing. For comfort, they’ll do a few shallow sucks, then rest, then do a few more. Eyes are usually closed and they’re quite still and calm

Both! You can feel it! If it’s strong suckle means baby is drinking! If it’s shallow and slow suckle on and off it’s just for comfort!
It'd be for both. 💙
