I didn't hire any confinement nanny because my ex husband thought that I could manage it on my own since I have 8 weeks of maternity leave. I agreed, I didn't know better and regretted that decision 1 week after birth. I didn't have any help from my parents or ILs, so I struggled on my own. My ex husband wasn't of much help, and it didn't help that I had severe pelvic pains post pregnancy so that made picking up my son a lot harder. I was struggling with breastfeeding so much and within 3 weeks after giving birth, I got into post natal depression. I got better only after my sister stepped in to help me out. If I were to have another child in the future, I'd definitely insist on a confinement nanny. Confinement period is a time for new mummies to rest and heal, that is the purpose of the 8 weeks maternity (aside from spending time with your newborn of cos). Book your confinement nannies well in advanced as the popular ones are usually quickly taken up.

Well, personally i feel that if you are breastfeeding and has some form of help, you don't need a confinement nanny at all. Waste $$, better use on baby. My hubby did the confinement for me. Basically only cook and take care of baby. With current 2 weeks paternity leave, 1 week of shared maternity leave and 6 days of Childcare leave. Good enough already. However taking all at a go may not be allowed ao better check. I breastfed my baby even at night therefore, to me having a confinement nanny is redundant. Moreover, there r many food that i dont like to eat. Wasted. When my hubby did for me, it was easy as he knew wat i like. I'm truly lucky.

I did engaged one. It was through my friend's recommendation. My friend engaged this nanny for her confinement and I tried the foods that she cooked. It was really good and I see that she really took good care of my friend's newborn. Although it is expensive, I thought it was a money well spent. I get to rest and I did not have to worry about the well-being of my baby as it was well taken care of by the nanny.

Can share your confinement lady's name and contact? Thanks!

Nope, didn't hire a confinement nanny. Very lucky enough with living in my parents' territory. Mom's a plain housewife and won't trust to to anybody else but her. And they were happy as well to take care of my baby, their 1st granddaughter. :) But, for sure I'll consider that on my 2nd baby (not so soon!) and since hubby and I are planning to move out already. :)
