Induced or wait?
Doc estimated BB to be 3.7kg for full term, on the larger size with a bigger head circumference. Should I wait for him to be ready or induced? Heard that the pain is worse than letting it happen naturally. Please advise a confused mom-to-be... TIA
Actually induction doesn’t make it more painful. Natural spontaneous labour is extremely painful in itself. Induction just makes the process longer because you start off with the cervix closed up. If you’re very keen for a normal vaginal delivery, the success rate is usually higher if baby’s not too big. So you may really want to consider taking up the offer for induction:) In both cases (induced vs spontaneous), if labour doesn’t progress well or you really can’t push baby out, you would still be taken to the operating theatre for a C-section to get baby out safely. At the end of the day, as long as you and baby are healthy and safe, that’s the most important:)

The pain is the same for spontaneous and induced labour; it’s just that the progress may be too fast for induction compared to spontaneous. Either way, even if you do dilate but baby is too big or you couldn’t push, then you will still end up delivering via c-sect.
