At what age do you start brushing the teeth of your children? Do we need to clean their gums before they even begin to have teeth?

0-2 Years Old You can start cleaning baby's teeth as soon as the first tooth appears. Brush child's teeth with soft toothbrush and water. Do not use toothpaste. 2-7 Years Old You can start using toothpaste but only use small pea-sized amount of flouride. Never rinse after brushing. Children should not swallow or eat toothpaste. Start cleaning your child's mouth even before teeth come in. Wipe the gums off after each feeding with a warm, wet washcloth wrapped around your finger.

Can start brushing the teeth once the first teeth erupt. But i clean my girl’s gum and tongue twice a day, since she’s newborn. Cause everytime after latching, will have milk residue stuck on the tongue also. Cannot don’t clean. This kind of silicone finger toothbrush very handy. The “bristles” can help clean the milk stain. But it’s also not too rough. When baby is teething, can also use it to massage their gums.

For the first 5 months I used wet cloth to wipe baby's tongue and gums. After that I used Pigeon Training Toothbrush set that comes with 3 Training Toothbrush Lesson 1, 2 and 3 and they are BPA Free and thus safe if baby bites on them. Oh! Yes, you should clean the gums and tongue with cotton. You can wet the cotton and gently clean the mouth from inside. It will make the kid also feel good. And as soon as the kid gets even two teeth, the baby should be introduced to brushing. As early you set brushing habit, better it will be else brushing is the thing that kids don't take very kindly to adapting.

Hi mummy, I usually take a wet cloth to clean my baby's gums before bath time and also his tongue too as sometimes, they are milk residue on it. When he started having teeth, I would use a small soft brush to brush his teeth once a day. My son is now 1 year old with 7 teeth and I have just started using a 'safe-to-swallow' toothpaste during brushing time.

Since newborn, we would use a wet cloth with drinking water to clean her tongue and gums. Until she had more teeth, we used those plastic bristles that fit over our finger to "brush" and eventually moved to little toothbrush for her.

I use a wet cloth with boiled lukewarm water to clean my baby's gums for 1st 6mths. Then after that I use normal water. Until 16mth then I start to use a soft brush with toothpaste free of fluoride. I using 1st teeth toothpaste.
