At what age do you start brushing the teeth of your children? Do we need to clean their gums before they even begin to have teeth?

0-2 Years Old You can start cleaning baby's teeth as soon as the first tooth appears. Brush child's teeth with soft toothbrush and water. Do not use toothpaste. 2-7 Years Old You can start using toothpaste but only use small pea-sized amount of flouride. Never rinse after brushing. Children should not swallow or eat toothpaste. Start cleaning your child's mouth even before teeth come in. Wipe the gums off after each feeding with a warm, wet washcloth wrapped around your finger.
