How can we prevent or delay myopia onset in kids?

5y ago

Spending time outdoors when the sun is out seems to be the key in delaying onset and slowing down the progression of myopia in our children. Literature suggests to spend a minimum of 8 hours a week outdoors in the sun! Regular eye checks can also help you to understand your child's eyes better and monitor the changes if any. Good sitting postures, vision habits, like the 20-20-20 rule we mentioned, are important too. Once myopia develops, you can consider some myopia control methods, for example specialised glasses, contact lenses and even eye drops to help slow down the progression of myopia.
