When understanding preemie milestones is important to learn a little bit of information on the typical development of various skills, as well as some information about signs that may indicate problems with development. If your preemie is not meeting the milestones mentioned you may want to talk to your paediatrician about your preemie's development. The following link lists down all the milestones and the ways to optimise development http://preemiehelp.com/about-preemies/preemie-developmental-milestones/strategies-optimising-outcomes-of-preemies/strategies-for-optimising-preemie-development-in-preemies

For premies, you can buy toys which suit his adjusted age. If he was born 2 months premature and is currently 9 months old, toys for a 7 month old would suit his developmental needs. An example of such a toy would be a pop up toy or a push and pull toy. This one is from Fisher Price. If he is still a newborn, then Lamaze toys would be suitable as they come in bright, vivid colours with many different textures. http://sg.theasianparent.com/how-to-choose-baby-toys-and-games/ http://www.babycenter.com/0_how-to-determine-your-premature-babys-adjusted-age_10300024.bc

Many parents of preemies worry their child may have serious developmental delays. It is true that preemies tend to lag behind...at least at first. But there are several important things to remember when we're talking about delays. Developmental toys are great, but it is important for parents to buy the toys as per the age of the baby. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before buying toys fro preemies http://prematurebabycare.com/81/how-to-select-best-toys-for-premature-babies/

This is an interesting topic! I didn't know that toys and preemie baby's development would differ from a full term baby. My best friend's baby is 2 months premature (but healthy and happy) and I have always bought him toys that I thought any baby would like. Will keep this topic in mind :)
