After any delivery, a mother needs to allow her body to rest and heal. Ideally, this means little to no housework, and no running after kids. Your activity level should be kept at the minimum, avoid lifting anything heavy. Make sure to get plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated, and eat healthy meals to restore your energy and prevent constipation. Keep changing stations and feeding supplies close to you so that you do not have to get up too often. You should also get up from your sides to prevent stretching of your tummy which can lead to pain. Be alert to any fever or pain, which can both be signs of infection. Things to avoid - Sexual intercourse until your doctor tells you that it is safe which is roughly about 3-6 months depending on individual - Use of tampons - Taking baths until your incision is healed and no longer bleeding - Public pools and hot tubs - Lifting anything heavy - Repeatedly using stairs - Exercise until your doctor gives you the go-ahead which is roughly about 6 months. Go to the doctor if: - You are having a fever - Severe headache that begins after birth and does not let up in intensity - Sudden pain in abdominal area, such as tenderness to touch or burning sensation - Foul door from vaginal discharge - Sudden pain at incision area that can include a pus discharge - Swollen, red, painful area in the leg - Burning urination or blood in urine - Appearance of rash or hives - Extremely heavy bleeding or passing of large clots - Sore, red, painful area on the breasts that may be accompanied by flu-like symptoms

Apart from the mummy suggested above, you should try to: - avoid consuming fishes and seafood as it will form keloid at the wound area - avoid having post natal massage too soon. Normally it is advisable to start massage after 7-8 weeks after c-section - use tummy binder all the time to support the wound - if you are breastfeeding and find the wound is too painful, you can try to use side lying latching position..
