Hi mummy! Before you leave home, you need to consider what clothes are you most comfortable to nurse in. Do u prefer to pull up ur top, pull down, unbutton or unzip. It might take a few different occasion for u to decide which is most comfy for u. Check out where the nursing rooms are at the places you are going to, bring a portable fan as some rooms can get a bit stuffy. Have a nursing cover/ burping cloth/Muslin cloth handy. Even a baby napkin can cover u when ur in dire straits, just need to think out of the box :) but it's best to be prepared. Whenever ur child is being covered while nursing, please check often that baby is ok,nose not covered by boob, but sweating excessively, sometimes I don't use the whole nursing cover, I just cover the parts where I'm exposed usually from her head up and ask my hubby/fren to check if she can see my boobs. Trial n error. :) If ur going to eat, try to sit in a corner or an area with less ppl so if u have to feed, you won't feel so awkward and just act normally, most of the time no one will notice until ur almost done. Aaaaannnd... You can bf in most carriers, be it a soft structured carrier or a ringsling. You just need to get used to feeding the baby upright and being able to adjust the carrier to an appropriate feeding height for baby. It takes a bit of practice so u should practice at home before u try it outside. I tried to do it outside without practicing.... Baby was fussing n I was just attracting more attention. Hehe. For a ringsling u can use the tail to cover ur exposed parts. It sounds like a lot but once u get the hang of it mummy you will be alright! Have fun mummy!

First, before you go to that shopping mall, do check out if they have nursing room, you can always practice in nursing room and relax there comfortably than go outside and continue nurse. My husband don't like i expose so i need a nursing and i'm also shy that everyone stare at me breastfeeding too, if i go without nursing cover. Start with one on the up 1st, easy to see inside as we need to offer to our LO 1st. And make sure our breast don't cover their nose and suffocates them. (Sorry, as my breast is bigger.) As times goes by, LO is well trained, the one below is better, as LO can find the nipples their own as they will not drink milk quietly, their hands will be here and there to sneak out of the cover. Hence i feel below one has bigger coverage.

I use a ring sling to carry my LO. That will act as nursing cover too. Initally, I nurse only in nursing rooms in the shopping mall, but sometimes the nursing rooms are occupied or condition is too unbearable to stay in for long and therefore I had to take up the courage to nurse in public. So i tried nursing at restaurants by picking a corner table or back facing the crowd. most times I will need my husband's help to hold the cover while I adjust the clothes or to help me keep a look out. Personally I prefer nursing top that has opening on the side (very convenient). once you get the hang of it you can nurse on-the-go and even in a crowded train with no problem! just sharing my experience, hope it helps you.

1. Wear nursing friendly clothes to ensure easy access. :) -Nursing bra -Nursing top -Loosely fitted tops -Airism bratop 2. A nursing shawl or cover will be useful if you are not confident yet 3. Practice at home 4. Understand your baby's cue 5. Have a good support from whoever you are out with 6. Be calm and confident 7. Research on nursing rooms nearby just in case 8. Nursing in carriers can be discreet too, I nurse in SSC, ask around and research on how to do it 9. Be prepared for letdown in case you have good supply or baby is still new. Have spare breastpads, wetwipes and tissue. (I used to place a baby face cloth in the other side and in my hand. Wash it after use and let it dry.)

Previously I used to go to nursing room at shopping centre. But sometimes lazt to walk all the way there...so I just BF from baby carrier using nursing shawl. The clothes I loke is Uniqlo airism bra top. Easy during feeding yet still keep the shape of the top. Nowadays is more open in SG. Once I saw an Eurasian opening BF without wearing any nursing shawl. I felt that she was brave & confident. So mummy, dont worry. Bf in style & confident. Most important comfortable.

Great question! Firstly believe that you can do it! Secondly, know the law - you are allowed to breastfeed in public in Singapore, without any nursing cover at any place. If you are a little shy, use a nursing cover, or shawl or your baby carrier to offer some discretion. Alternatively buy nursing dresses/tops - I personally love the clothes from Jump eat cry. This is one of my fav shirts.
