My little one (1 month old) often fuss when I try to change her diaper, be it when she's sleeping, before her feeds or halfway through her feeds. She usually falls asleep after her feeds. If her diaper is only slightly wet, can I wait for a few more hours before I change her? Or can I apply thicker bottom balm so as to prevent diaper rash from forming during to the irregular change of diapers? Because of her fussiness, I can only change a maximum of 5 diapers for her a day. Thanks!

Have you tired changing before any feeds? I would say it will be okay to wait slightly longer if babies skin isnt too sensitive. For my 4months old, i usually change him only when his diaper is full. With that being said, every baby is different. Some babies would be very fussy and others wouldnt. Maybe you can try changing him before his feeds. In that case, he will have a clean diaper, milk and doze off. The basic needs are then met. Not sure if this helps. :)

My friends would change the diaper once they realized that the diaper is wet or whenever their little ones have a bowel movement. I think getting a good pampers is important if you are not changing that frequently. Here is a blog post that you may find useful, I think the review is quite comprehensive: http://www.jashuat.com/the-poop-diary-diaper-brands-review-and-caring-for-your-babys-butt/

I think maybe u can make diaper changing more fun. Like singing a song (脱掉脱掉。。),actions, or use some rattle to attract their attentions or maybe talk to them nicely and gently that u are gonna change their diapers. Basically just make them feel happy when changing diapers. What do they normally feel happy about then u try to use it when u are changing diapers for them

I routinely change his diapers b4 or after every feed when i took care of him myself when he was 1 to 2 months.. was solo parenting in the day (no help whatsoever). But that that age he was pooping and peeing like mad lol And yup quite commonly he was fussing through some diaper change

I changed mine after every feed. Not immediately after feeding but after i managed to burp him or at least 20mins later. Reason being for changing so frequently was because mine poop and pee almost after every feed. So i changed close to 10 diapers a day for the first month.

5 diapers a day doesn't sound sufficient for a month old baby. Most babies at that age should be changing diapers at least every 3h = 8 diapers or more a day. Don't let baby stew in wet diapers for longer than that as its not good for baby's skin. Change more regularly.

It's always better to keep our babies' bums dry and clean. No matter how fussy they are/how wriggly they can be (my son is like that even as a newborn); always best to change their diapers every 2-3 hours or when its already wet or slightly wet :)

Always good to keep baby bum clean and dry. I don’t recommend changing her during feed. Who wants to be disturbed while having their meal ? Also, you need to train baby for diaper change time. Do not be trained by your baby instead

Don’t be a hostage to your baby’s fussiness. Changing nappy is very important for your baby’s health. Specially for girls, they are more sensitive and needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent infections.

I think it also depends on the child. My baby doesn't fuss when her diaper is wet so we can usually wait a while to change it. I know some babies wail at the slightest wetness.
