SG employers getting out of hand (Ranting post)

I'm at Wk 36+3 today, delivering baby on the 28 Aug. 2 days ago, my hubby informed me that his company is converting him from job agency contract staff to perm staff after serving them for coming 7 months by 31 Aug. This conversion comes with a $200 increment, but we have to give up his paternity leave. Mandatory paternity leave according to advisory given to us, he is entitled to 28 Aug to 31 Aug period, 4 days only. His company have informed him that he has to be back to work with them on the 11 Sep, so hubby says day 15 onwards my confinement i'll have to manage on my own if i dont want our family's help (i only wanted my hubby to assist me, not even our parents). I've made a statement to my hubby, i've seen confinement nanny fly kite on the employer's family, but never seen baby's father fly kite on the FTM 😂 I've helped hubby with phone calls to MOM, MSF Profamily department, even a visit to MP yesterday after my KKH visit, all done in one day trying to get an answer to our entitlements. Yesterday I just calmed myself to go to bed early, but this morning i'm so depressed that i broke down alone at home.. I've also lost my job this month as well, and more things just came crashing. When we employees have served employers for more than 3 months and our entitlements are being revoked, i feel being taken advantage of. For my husband's case, he wants his perm contract and feel that i'm not being supportive by compromising.. But i'm a human, so how does he expect me to behave? Now he's telling me how important cash is to us to sustain the family.. But i'm telling him only one word "terminate".

Hugs Mummy 🫂 I'm sorry that you are facing difficulties at this point. Please seek the necessary help where needed to get a job once you are done with ML. Any situation that happens at this point and you think is against employment act or MOM law, seek the right channel assistance. If you need financial support, please do approach MSW or Care Corner or Social Worker or MP.

To my surprise, there seems to be no violation of the employment act by the employers, this is what I was told at the MP session.. They are writing into MOM now for clarification as different officers at the call centre have given different views when i called in different occasions. Can't even bring myself to face my hubby this evening as I just get upset over the fact that i'm not getting his company during the entire confinement period. My mum called me this evening to pursuade me to give in to the situation as finances at this point is important, i had to end the phone call with her saying this whole pregnancy is a mess from the start. This is just how disappointing i m right now 🥹

It depends on what was also stated in the contract and once signed it will be considered agreed upon. However, if it is indeed against MOM Law then where possible actions will be taken. Unless as per I mentioned agreed upon employee and employer.

Laughable part is that my hubby's contract with job agency stated 28 days for paternity leave, 12 days for unpaid infant care leave. Sigh..
