I'm helping my aunt prepare for recipes for her son's pamamanhikan (Filipino tradition wherein the parents of the man formally asks permission from the parents of the woman for her hand in marriage--usually done by visiting the woman's house). Can anyone share good recipes for this special occasion? http://easyday.snydle.com/filipino-wedding-traditions.html/pamamanhikan

There's no list of foods intended for pamanhikan actually. Some do it in the restaurants and some just order. In our case, 7 years ago, we just ordered foods from Ambers. But of course, it's still fun to cook for all the visitors. In Batangas for example, they butcher pigs and cook the traditional putahe: dinuguan, caldereta, menudo, pochero and chicharon. Send me a direct message and I'll share these recipes with you.
