Hi mummy, i was a pre-eclampsia (PE) mother at abt 30 weeks as well. And usually for pre-eclampsia, yes, likely to deliver earlier. My doc warded me the moment he found out that i had PE and he recommended that I choose a subsidized ward. I was a private patient but I changed to class C at the local hospital to save costs… bcos likely u’ll delivered a preterm baby and there’s a need to forecast the cost for baby in nicu… so, if you are burdened by the financial costs, the least that u can do is to consider the lowest class ward and make sure that the hospital u r in is facilitated for preterm babies. GD i guess the least that u can do is follow ya dietitian recommendation… most mothers do pretty well with gd. I also felt lousy like you, even after having a preterm baby i questioned myself why am i subjecting my baby to such challenges… its a lot of self-blaming, anger, inferior complexity gg on… but you just have to be stronger than anybody else… your baby will be fine, just do the necessary to rid of the stress… bcos stress isn’t good for PE also… wish u well

Be strong! Take pride in the fact that you’ve travelled so far in this journey. Count the number of blessings you have from having this bundle of joy join you. Try to keep your mind occupied, and it’ll steer your thoughts from the negativity. For example, you can pick up reading, like reading parenting books for example, or even learn to knit and knit something for your LO who’s coming! Finance parts wise, NICU costs will be heavy no doubt. Discuss with your partner or your elders to see if they are able to help if you really need the help. To me personally, money can be earned back, but LO’s life can’t be earned back. I’ll choose my LO over money if I’m forced to make the choice. You can also try talking to the hospital finance to see if they’re able to work out a financial repayment plan, I believe they’ll be able to help out. Stay strong!

it must have been a difficult journey for you... but what I normally does is telling myself I wan to create a happy environment in my womb for my baby. so when baby comes out baby will be happy :) I was diagnosed with thyroid, ezcema, ongoing issues and going checks and during that time I was worried but I told baby let's overcome this together. now I am going 35 weeks and gynae says my conditions are stabilised. don lose heart, step by step. For financial part, perhaps after giving birth ,see can explore with hospital to pay the bills by instalment to lighten the family loads:) you can do it!!

In my opinion, you are a great mother! Don't beat yourself up. I know of people who continue their high sugar diet even though they have gestational diabetes. At least you made an effort to improve the conditions and I think you are doing an awesome job! Don't give yourself too much stress, eventually all things will fall into place. As for the financial part, discuss it with your family/friends or healthcare provider, see if you can pay by instalments. Right now just focus on yourself and your baby's health. Take care and stay positive! :)

Dont worry too much. I also have GD. I have spikes at times and even exceed the limit. I feel you because i have had alot of experiences during this pregnancy journey (from tears, low fluid, GD at wk 20+). Cried alot. Its good at least you have a supportive family. On diet, i didnt take rice/beehoon after GD. Cheer up!! I m also afraid either baby is too big or too small... at 28 wks gynae said baby is big...

Super Mum

Hugs. It is indeed a difficult time for you. Try DISTRACTION. What makes you laugh and feel happier? Watch some comedies tv shows, read some books, play music, etc. Immerse yourself in those happy activities and you will slowly feel better, not so overwhelmed. You can even do it with your hubby, some bonding time before baby comes. You have already done your best, carrying your unborn child for so long.

Hang in there mummy!! You’ve done a great job so far!! All will work out!!

It’s alright
