If under joint custody/shared custody, is the father the only one paying maintenance or or both parents? Paying to the one who has care n control over the child?

Doesn't matter what kind of custody it is, the one who have care and control over the child can file for the other party to pay for maintenance as both parents are responsible for the child and it is up to the court to decide if the amount is right. Before filing for maintenance, do draft up a list of spendings of the child. (Child care, diapers, milk power etc.) Also remember to keep all the receipts so as to proof the amount spent. At any point of time after the order is made, the child expenses increase (going to primary/secondary school), you can file another order for an increase but that will subject to approval and if the other party is able to afford.
