Can I rub honey on my teething baby's gums? Does it soothe the itching?
No, you should never give your baby any honey before your baby is a year old, even it is to treat the itching gum. This is because honey can, very occasionally, contain a spore of a bacterium called clostridium botulinum. This can cause a rare form of food poisoning (botulism) in babies. There are plenty of things you can try to soothe your baby's teething before resorting to pain relief products or teething gels. Giving your baby something cool to bite on can relieve the pressure and ease the pain. You could try the following: - Rub a clean finger over your baby's sore gums to numb the pain temporarily. - Give your baby a teething ring. Solid, silicone-based teething rings are better than liquid-filled products, which could leak and can't be sterilised. You could try putting the teething ring in the fridge for a while before giving it to your baby. Don’t put it in the freezer, as this could hurt your baby’s gums. - Let your baby chew on a clean, damp face cloth that’s been chilled in the fridge. - Offer her a dummy, if she uses one. Chewing on the teat may help her soothe herself. Hope it helps!
Magbasa paIf your baby is below than 1 year old, then that's a BIG NO. It contains a bacterium that can poison babies. To soothe teething gums, freeze a gel teether and give that to baby. Or give baby a cold damp towel to suck on.
Noooo! Please do not introduce honey to your LO before he/she turns atleast 1. Better give doc approved meds, gels or teethers.
