How can I teach my kids to be responsible?

there are various activities you can start at home depending on your kids' age that will help them become more responsible. for instance, i have asked my 9 year old to keep her bag ready for school the previous night, as well as get her clothes and shoes ready. also, she is supposed to make sure that all her story books and arts supply are in place after she has finished using them for the day. if at night i see they are not in place, i confiscate them for a day or two, which she tries to avoid at all costs. for my younger one, i have asked her to water the plant a certain amount and when she does it, she gets a star. also, finishing her food on her own, drinking a said amount of water each day and such small yet important tasks also get her stars that she loves :)

Kids follow a simple rule of "monkey see monkey do". You want them to learn responsibility but u can't just tell them to be so. You need to make them learn how amd then make it a bit fun for them. I assign a couple of tasks to each of them amd tell them that they will have to fulfill them regularly.at the end of each day i take a check to see if it is done and give them a smiley for each completed task.if task is not done then they get a frownie.
