Grandparents Pros: - More focused care Either 2 adults or 1 adult to one child - More bonding between child and grandparents Cons: - Less opportunities to socialise with peers - More towards care-giving and less focused on teaching, so baby misses out on social and educational experiences - Grandparents may be too tired looking after baby for the entire day due to their age IFC Pros: - Group activities for babies to learn and play together - Subsidies available for working mothers Cons: - Babies are likelier to fall sick - Babies have to be brought home by the centre's closing hours, meaning that if one parent has to do overtime at work, the other parent HAS to fetch the child home I would opt for IFC as I would like my baby to socialise with other babies from an earlier age and I tend to feel that babies left with grandparents don't get to learn much at home. Research also shows that nurseries are better than grandparents. http://www.theguardian.com/education/2009/feb/10/grandparents-childcare-pre-school
